So our campaign has a homebrew ruling where Wizards can have all of their spells prepared always because we had to take the time to learn all of our spells.
Problem is, right now I can only prepare so many so that they actually show up on the list and I can roll them.
Is there any way to lift that restriction? I have not been able to find this on my own. Thanks for the help in advance!
Nope, that restriction can't be lifted. D&D Beyond follows the core rules of D&D 5th edition, such as class restrictions such as wizards prepared spells
How hard would it be to implement something that basically says,
if (coreRules.limitPrepared)
{ //limit wizard spells }
else
{ //allow wizard all spells }
or even having the option as the DM or the player to say that we are ignoring these certain rules regarding your character would be awesome. Where can I submit this idea?
This isn't about the technical limitations (which, I can assure you, would be a lot more complicated that what you propose). It's about the objective D&D Beyond has with regards to supporting the core rules of fifth edition Dungeon & Dragons. It's less that DDB can't do it, more that the devs have chosen not to in order to deliver a system that conveys the rules as designed by Wizards of the Coast.
Ah I see what you mean. That's quite unfortunate for those of us who pay lots of money to be on here and use all the tools, but can't use the system the way that we need to.
Also, are you on the development team for DND Beyond? Just curious. From your previous answer it sounds like you have development experience with the team here. Would love to ask a few technical questions if I could!
I'm not part of the development team, but the moderation team (hence orange username rather than red for staff). However, the two teams communicate to ensure that the moderation team is able to pass on feedback to the devs, as well as help the community with troubleshooting issues. So unfortunately I'm not the right person to pose technical questions to. However, I recommend you tune in to our dev updates; there are regular Q&As with various members of the team
