The weight override option for customizing items works for regular and homebrewed items in a characters inventory but if you make a custom item in the character sheet, the weight override feature doesn't seem to function and the item remains weightless. I'd also like to mention that you can only enter whole numbers and it wont allow you to enter a weight such as half a pound or a quarter of a pound.
Ergh, looks like I'm stuck in the same saddle for a while. I recently discovered four hundred and twenty-five 'quarters' in an arcade my party found in a Space Ship. They weigh about the same as coins, so about .4lbs. but I had to lump the whole sum of them as one item x425, and give the singular item a rounded weight of 4lbs. More vexingly though, I have an Inert Healing Potion after a creature I'm keeping absorbed its magic to heal rather than actually drinking it. So, I was going to make a custom inert potion item, but I can't put in its weight of .5llbs. :/
Surprised this isn't a bigger deal for people who use this service. I can't imagine how many custom items are put into an average game.
I just discovered this issue today. It is mildly irritating, especially since it only appears to affect custom items that weigh less than a pound. Yet, we have items like tinderboxes that weigh 0.5 pounds that are part of a standard adventuring kit. Hopefully, this will get fixed at some point.
I guess they never will fix this... Same issue here.

The weight override feature only seems to work to zero the weight. It doesn't work if you have e.g. 10 torches and only want to indicate you are carrying two (by weight override). Rather than take the override weight, it instead multiplies the override weight by the number of items so instead of getting a weight reflecting 2 torches you get a weight reflecting 2 x 10 torches. You can't even get clever and try a fractional weight as the input only takes integers. Negative weight values are also allowed and obviously shouldn't be.
What is really needed is a container system so that you can indicate which items are in which containers and which containers are being personally carried as opposed to things on mounts and carts etc.
I wish they would stop fiddling around with silly dice and address fundamental game issues like this encumbrance problem. It is getting really annoying to see posts dating back two or three years to do with game rule implementation and also errors in digital source materials that go unfixed.

I agree strongly.
It's the same with the gold btw. You can't set a silver or copper value, only whole gold integers. Just implement gold override such that it's a float that translates X.xx = G.SC (Gold.SilverCopper)
I played around with this and got it to work finally. I wanted to make "shuriken" for flavor for my monk. I used a dagger as a template so it would count as a monk weapon, but wanted them to weigh similar to a dart instead of 1 pound each. After searching several posts similar to this and not finding an answer, I experimented more. What worked for me was changing the weight to simply ".25" without the quotes. No lb or pound after the .25. After clearing the cache in my browser they now show up with the correct weight on my character sheet. I still can't stack them like you can with a dart template, but short of using Kensei choosing dart as kensei weapon, I can't get the damage to scale with monk dice otherwise. https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/2767681-shuriken

Also experiencing this. Hoping for a quick fix.
Same here also value override only lets you register items in GP would be nice if we had the choice between gold silver and copper
Bump, this would be a nice fix.
Same issue/desire...
I would like if my military saddle didn't add to my own encumbrance, *I'M* not wearing it (at least not outside the bedroom... wait...)

I'm sad that they still didn't add this feature.
Would be nice to fix this

fixed it seems.
How so? I still can't make an item's custom weight be .5 pounds.
Can this please be added I have a wizard that picks up a lot of random stuff and it would be nice to be able to add non round weights.
I agree strongly.

That's fine and all but is there a way to do this without having to go through the whole process of making new magic items?
Needs.
Fixed.
