I created a magical handaxe with the finesse ability as we have a ranger with a higer DEX mod that wants to wield handaxes to fit with their backstory.
When I first load this weapon into the character sheet it correctly assigns it a +7 hit (4 DEX mod + 2 PROF +1 Weapon bonus). Same with Damage, it is correctly calculated using the DEX mod as the higher scoring skill. However the problem arises when reloading or exiting the character. The weapon modifiers have changed and now reflect the STR mod for the character +5 hit (2 STR + 2 PROF + 1 Weapon bonus), same with the damage. It also seems to be randomly adding a 1d8 + modifiers option for damage when it should only have the 1d6 +modifiers option to the best of my knowledge. I've not added any modifiers to the weapon that would explain it trying to add different dice rolls.
I've made sure the weapon save to the character sheet is the right version. I've tried item customisation on the player level but honestly being new the platform I'm either doing something wrong or experiencing a bug there too as it doesn't consisently carry over the the player sheet. The only way I've found to reliably workaround this is remove the item from the player and re-add each time its loaded and never navigate away from the player sheet or cause a reload. This isn't feasible for play and I know my player will struggle with having to do the additional math themself as well as me not being able to check in on it all the time during combat.
Is anyone else running into this with finesse weapons and have workarounds or knowledge of what I might have done wrong on the magic weapon thats causing this to happen? Help would be much appriechated althought I suspect there is a bug in play somewhere in this.
