So I am a 3rd ed player from long ago, and adjusting to 5e has been... well i'ts not been good. One of my mechanims for coping with this is leaning very heavilly on homebrew items, monsters, and even homebrew subclasses until full-on classes can be made in dndbeyond.
One of the things I am currently working on is Item Sets - very similar to what you see in many video games, where each additional item in a set grants additional bonsues. Becuase this is a mechanic that doesn't currently exist in D&D, or dndbeyond, I am using a sort of unsual method to get there. I basically make a set of 4 items - Item one is 'free' and has no prerequisites. In order to equip Item 2, you must already be wearing Item 1. To wear Item 3, Items 1 & 2 must be equiped, and so on. This isn't a rule I can enforce via the system so I just write out those requirements in the item description.
Anyway, one of the set bonuses I need to create is +HP. Specifically, a fixed amount. I've looked around and it does seem possible by added a fixed 'bonus' and selecting HP when creating the homebrew item, but after equiping it on my dummy character, I don't see the HP bonus as being applied.
Am I missing something obvious? Hoping maybe someone from the support team can walk me through this.
The HP modifier doesn't work on items for some reason.
It should work on a feat as a work around (I think).
Any bugs or limitations of the homebrew tools is because they are the same tools the devs use to make official content work. So if official content didn't do something it may not work in Homebrew.

Hmmm...
So I can create a feat that adds a fixed amount of HP, but homebrew feats are not selectable as a bonus feat in homebrew items it seems.
