i wanted to create a new type of mundane gun (i know this is impossible so i just made a 'magic' one instead) but with the extra property i gave it, decided that i needed to reduce the damage from 2d8 to 2d6. so i added a modifier (replace damage type, 2d6 pierce.) despite this, it still reads as 2d8 in character sheet. i switched to to 200 d20 to test it, still 2d8 piercing, then i switched it over to force damage. it became 2d8 force damage in the character sheet. so the replace damage /dice roll modifier seems to not be working on home brewed magic items. not a major issue atm but when you get the time to look at it or explain what might be happening i would be much obliged.

There is not a replace damage dice modifier. Replace damage type only replaces the type.
i see. i guess i was confused, becuase you can still add a dice type and number of dice to it.
Yeah those fields are just always there. There is a lot of weird stuff like that, I really hope homebrew revamp isn't too far off (2021?🤞).
