Aarakocra stats don’t apply

When selecting the aaracokra species, it says that Deterity is increased by 2 and Wisdom is increased by one. This is not shown AFTER the species is selected but it is in both the preview and the rules page about that species. It also does not grant the specified increases, so you must put them in manually.

There was a 2014 general, system level rules change that decoupled ability score increases at character creation from species. What you're describing is correct per this update. You can, if you want, restrict yourself to the legacy traits of the Aarakocra species and select Dex +2, Wis +1, but you're no longer forced to do this
