I would love to see a save function or an undo choice for the character editing changes on the sheet. Sometimes I want to be able to compare things without having it automatically saving.
I suggest duplicating the character for that sort of testing.
If it required you to actively save, there'd be a continuous stream of problems caused by people forgetting to save. (Also "forgetting" to save that they took damage, used spell slots, etc.)
It has to be one way or the other, and the one we have is way fewer headaches for the general case.
(It's also the way people expect web apps to work these days.)

I wasn’t saying it should need a save in character sheet. But in the character creation process. Or even a revert button.
and instead of “ooops I forgot “ (that sounds like my kids) we can work on remembering.
