Seems like the eye simply turns to the plane of the viewport, which on the lower left edge of available space looks like this: It's just looking past me at nothing. I think it would make a significantly better impression of focusing on the user if it turned towards a point on the normal to the center of the screen.

Also i think that with this particular die it would be better to be thrown from sides to center so that it would end up somewhere in the middle
