Yes, agreed those would be good additions. Here's my list, all of which could happily be options/toggles:-
Movement distances auto displayed when you drag a token. The ruler can easily show the distance from point A to B. Why can't the token drag UI do the same?
Some sort of snap-to-grid. We have a grid displayed on many maps. Could we please have the option to snap tokens to it?
Combat automation (very basic) We know what we rolled to hit. If we had targeting, we'd know the AC of the target and could easily say if that was a hit/miss. We roll damage, so could easily have a dialogue popping up asking if we want to apply the damage (with toggles for half-damage, max-damage, critical (double) damage, etc).
For me, the above three items would actually make me transition to Maps from Foundry.
EDIT: Added one:
Persistent Maps Tables I run a PbP game over Discord and having Maps stay around essentially permanently - with a far longer time out period - would enable it to support PbP. As it stands as soon as I move away from my PC (browser shuts down) then the session suspends and the players can't reach the map. I appreciate this would have an impact on number of sessions Maps back end servers would have to support, and I also think it's probably got a very small use-case, so I am never expecting this to be a thing.
As a new DM who has been using DNDBeyond Maps for my campaigns, here are some features I would love to see incorporated:
- The ability to reorder maps I have uploaded to a campaign.
- The ability to create custom stickers or overlays from images I upload.
- The ability to resize character or monster tokens (due to features like enlarge/reduce or jellies that split but step down in size).
I have been really happy with the maps overall.
