My point was that this is NOT a wizards site. They don't control the site nor what is put out on it beyond licensing the data from their books. So crankin' on Wizards on DND Beyond is not going to go anywhere.
And, yes, I don't think a VTT on DND Beyond would vastly increase the moneys headed Wizards way (yes, I noticed the quotes) as the vast majority of Wizards D&D income comes from selling physical products. I did, however, say that I thought it would give an uptick in such income, but there is now a lot of competition for VTT (Fantasy Grounds, Foundry, Roll20). So it'd have to be good enough to overcome that as well.
But, hey, neither of us has any real data on the subject, so we're both just blowing smoke. I'm outta this thread.
It is WotC who is solely responsible for UI material being archives even though a great number of us would have like to keep using it in our campaigns. Because of WotC, DnD Beyond had to Archive all Unearthed Arcana material WotC told them to.
Basically WotC is telling us what we can and cannot use through any site that is licensed by them.
In D&D 4E WotC had there own site with an online character builder and got it so wrong that to this day I can not hear of 4E without ranting. More than one of my characters were wrecked my forced errata changes. Now, they are attempting to force that same stupid short=shortsightedness on services like D&D Beyond. They refuse to allow D&D Beyond to keep allowing us access to archives materials, but all that material is still freely available on the WotC Unearthed Arcana website; at least it was as of the time of this posting.
