So, a problem that has come up in several groups I've both played in and DMed for is that sometimes players want to hide a character detail from each other OOCly as well as ICly. Obviously IC vs OOC divide is its own thing, but a) not all groups are good at that and will interact differently before or after a reveal, and b) it can also just be really fun to keep a secret for a while oocly so that it has more impact when it comes out ICly.
Obviously in Campaigns you can go back in and set a sheet to private once you've added it, but the details on the Character Banner on the campaign page are still visible. Many of these details can include secrets. For example, a character using a fake name, a Warlock claiming to be a Wizard, a Changeling, and subclasses that a character might keep secret like College of Whispers or Grave Domain.
Players should have the option to hide info while still letting the DM see these things easily. I see two ways this problem could get resolved:
(for those using Campaigns) Campaign-side Privacy: The ability to set a Campaign to private so only the DM can see anything at all, even the player banners.
(for those not using Campaigns) Variable Sheet Privacy: The ability to link a character sheet to someone as either "DM Link" or "Player link" (so that it either displays the Descriptions & Notes tabs or doesn't depending on which link you use) or the ability to enter other D&DBeyond Users' names to see your sheet the way you do.
Thanks for the consideration -- it's a problem I've run into in 3-4 different games at this point from either side so it's a fairly urgent ask as far as I'm concerned.
Doesn't look like this has ever been addressed. It would be very useful to do so, because as the OP said, there are times when characters have secrets from others in the party that may include the most 'public' aspects of name/race/class/subclass.

I am running my first game as a DM this Sunday and my players started creating their characters on DnDBeyond, I noticed the same thing.
I really don't want my players to be able to see the other players character sheets!

This should really be addressed! My group just found out of a player being Aasimar when her intention was of pretending to be human.
Such a shame for new players.
