So I'm testing on a 12.9" iPad, and it doesn't really scale up very well. On web it adapts nicely, basically turning into a one page character sheet, but in the app there is a lot of empty space and oversized elements. I imagine that limited subset of users isn't an immediate concern, but adaptive ui design would be nice.
While I like that the app basically defaults to a "dark mode" I'd say it needs more contrast. Too many places where it's 3 grey values. It'd be nice to have the background be darker and the character's theme color be used to increase clarity.
I'd also like to see swipe navigation. I saw that on another post but would like to second it.
Oh, and this is probably a pipe dream, but I'd really love to see this jump onto the Microsoft Store as a UWP app or something. Surfaces and laptops have the same network constraints as an ipad, but lte capability is even less likely. I use DDB way more on a PC than ios it android.
I'm super excited for when spell and ability tracking are in. This app will make the game I'm in that has no cell service and horrible WiFi a lot easier.

Made a clone character with all the same equipment, and while it did load... the main character would not load in the app, so I deleted it. Fixed it myself.
Could you send me the ID of the character through a private message?
When I tried to create a new character, I believe it took my to the mobile site within the app. This allowed me to roll digital dice. I am unable to roll dice outside of this pop-up screen. Not sure if this was intended or if it is because the app takes me to the website in the pop-up window.
Correct. As we are not able to deliver everything in the app for day 1, for certain functions it allows you to quickly (within the app, without additional sign-in) go to the website and adjust/preview the areas which are not available natively in the app. In this case, you simply get the functionality of the website like 3D dice.
It seems we discovered the root cause of the issues with conditions/exhaustion not getting updated that some of you reported.
The element to blame is inspiration. When you enable/disable it in the app, it breaks certain things under the hood. We need to squash this bug and will do it asap.
Meanwhile, please:
Don't tap the inspiration icon. It's broken.
If you are already affected by the issue, please remove the app from your device and install it again. Then read #1.
We are terribly sorry for this inconvenience. The fix is under way.
I just used the player app on an iPad mini in my session. Worked smooth and looked good! Can't wait to get more features to mark off spells and prepare spells.
I’ve found a possible bug: the disadvantage on stealth from my armor is not displayed yet.
And the app did not provide all my prepared spells as actions. Paladin with bless, command and thunderous smite. Only the smite showed up at the action area. Thunderous smite only appeared at the bonus actions.
EDIT: I've seen that it's also like that on the web variant. I'll leave the comment on here, but I realize it's probably not a bug.

I know you have gone into a great deal of thought for the size of the display items in the app.
A suggestion I have is a setting to be able to change the text size to be smaller for people who like to see more real estate on the screen at a time.
Currently I sing an iPhone 6 and specifically looking at the skills page. Ideally when playing it’s handy to be able to see all the options at once on the screen rather than having to scroll. Currently I can only see maximum of 12/18 skills.
Running Android. Saw the post about the Inspiration bug. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Still unable to change conditions or modify HP's online or offline.
Are there any other Android users out there that have the updated Alpha that lets you edit HP and do more than just view the characters?
If I remember correctly it was last week Wednesday that it was put out it maybe 7 days till Google did something to make the updated alpha available. Is this still the case or is it just me?

Played tonight a long session using only the app, in app browser to edit and app to display. (great job folks, is very sweet to use).
Only issue I have found is using long rest to restore spell slot, on IPad pro the app was not restoring spell slot, but on the iphone (character i was able to see the correct value).
after editing manually on the web and syncing on the ipad the spell slow were already in sync.
Hello, I've been playing around with this app, creating characters, testing HP (and temp HP) up and down. I'm loving the app and it works for HP online and offline, but it did not count off spell slots or limited resources (i.e. the Fighter's Second Wind)
I have just uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and that solved the problem of conditions and exhaustion not saving. I have and a question or two:
Device: iPhone 11, Software Version 13.3.1
Questions:
What is the rising sun icon in the top left corner?
Which icon is the inspiration icon?
Which icon are the long rest/short rest buttons?
Is there a "day mode" in addition to the black background setup? And if there is, then where do I change it back and forth?
Is there a page that give more information about the app?
Glad to see an offline app! Yay!

Wanted to call out that the Healing bonus for the Life Cleric domain, which has been a bug in the standard browser version of D&D Beyond since 2017 (see this thread: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/16802-life-domain-cleric-problem), remains in the App. The domain bonus for Life Cleric healing is not applied to spells.

I got an invite a email on 1st May, and then an email that there was a pending update. Nothing since and the app is still not available for download.
Will I get another invite, or have i missed out now?

I got my invite a week ago. Unfortunately, my iPad runs iOS 10.3 and cannot run the app.

Am I missing it? For surely there are boxes in the HP area on this app to reset stats based on a character taking a:
- Short Rest
- Long Rest
