I really like that I can track my spell slots as I mainly play a caster. I like that once I've used all those slots the part of that like goes dark so I know I have none left. I like that it shows how the damage goes up for some spells if you cast it at a higher level. I hope there will be a way to get like a description of what the spell does like we can online.
I like the layout and format a lot so far. It's pretty easy to use, which I love.
Just got the latest iOS update for the app and it’s awesome! I really have no complaints except unlocking more features that will happen with time. Great job, Dev team!
OK So I have the Android version installed and so far it looks really great! I am impressed! I would just ask for a few things which I am assuming you are already working on.
1. Allow us to read the entire spell descriptions. I can see the spell. I would like to tap on it and then have it shows me the entire wording of the spell.
2. Condition explanations. I love how you will allow us to add a condition easily. Before I add it I would like to be able to tap on the name a read a description of it. Example the DM now says that I am paralyzed. I would like to go on the conditions add Paralyzed to my sheet but also read what the paralyzed condition does.
3. AC calculations. I would like to be to click on the AC and see how it was calculated. To let me know if I have a shield equipped or if I am using natural armor calculation vs unarmored defense.
4. Extras section is still under development so I will be happy to see how animal companions and wild shapes are integrated in. I would like to be able to see my beast stats when I am wildshaped. I assume this is coming.
5. Dice roller. Nice to have would be the ability to have a dice roll. Nothing as fancy as what is on the web character sheet but simply something that will spit out a number. And this should be an option that we can turn on and off.
I have to say the app is quick, streamlined, and very effective at what it is designed to do (so far, really looking forward to future updates). I do have to say that I really like the dark theme of the app. This is especially true for 3-4 hour sessions where eye strain can be a real hurdle. The character sheet arrangement of items is familiar due to it being a close copy of the web version which is also nice. The character creator works well and I didn't run into any issues while creating a new character through the app (though I am still holding out for rollable stats!).
A few things that I would like to see have also been mentioned by other users but they are as follows:
Would really like to see the themes from the web version make it into the app. Not only because the colors are nice, but it also provides a welcome amount of contrast between the various boxes and words. The same can be said for the frames as well. I really like the frame designs and would love to see them in the app as well.
Including some sort of auto-tracking system for skills that are recovered on a rest would be exceedingly helpful. For instance, if I use a dragonborn's breath weapon, it would be nice if the short rest box automatically checks itself until I get to take a short/long rest. I don't think the web version has this feature either so this may be something pushed far into the future.
As I am sure it will eventually come about, having the dice roller functionality that is currently in the web version make its way into the app would be amazing and could make this the one-stop app for table play.
Overall, I am incredibly happy with the way this app looks and feels as well as the functionality and convenience it offers. The app is smooth, sleek, and puts everything you need at your fingertips (well almost!). I am really looking forward to seeing the progress the app makes from here. Well done folks!
Hi, I have been Dm'ing for over 7 years now and have enjoyed every waking moment of it. With my regular group, I get to learn, improvise and make a lot of new things, using DndBeyond. It's a wonderful tool and so fun and easy enough that even the most novice computer user can make items, subclasses, feats and races within hours.
First thing I've noticed for feedback is in the Conditions selection. When I rapidly select multiple conditions and just as quickly close the conditions with X, some of the conditions save and some do not, even though they visually updated with check marks. Anecdotally, it could be any condition modified in the last half second or so before closing the conditions screen is not saved.
Just got the invite So first things first. I absolutely love the look and feel, the swiping left and right is great. I'd like if the spell modifers/attack/dc would scroll down with the character and the ability to press on the spell to get the entire text for what it does. Having dice roller would be pretty neat for those times when one does not have physical dice. But otherwise so far really good. Lists all the characters (the ability to sort them would also be a great feature)
I like the dark theme. It would be nice to see capability of swapping ability score and bonus numbers.a print option for the character sheet would be appreciated. Also the option to expand character photos from the thumbnail photo would be great.
Generally very nice. As a monk with limited magic, but play with others who have magic users then I agree it would be good to have click to see spell description.
One thing though and it is true of the main site it would be good if the limited use things, i.e. ki are somewhere at the top easy access. When playing I do often find it a pain to scroll and click round to use a ki point often I use a piece of paper to note it and the sync the two up at the end of the encounter.
An extension would be a pop up to select the skill to use and the points get deducted.
But overall I think there are some players I play with will love this, less laptops on the table.
Actions tab needs a bit of love, namely a better navigation: either filters or "jump to" buttons to the Attacks / Action / Bonus Action / Reaction / Limited use sections. If they are nav buttons, they should always show on top of the box, so I don't have to scroll back to the top of the list to go to a different section.
Transparent background character portraits show the default "green face shadow" behind them, both on the list and on the sheet.
The Defenses box should get small icons the same way the Conditions box does if there are any entries, otherwise it suggests there's none - especially because the Conditions box has icons if there are any conditions marked.
The "Inspiration" icon is misleading, I was trying that first to turn on the light theme (which doesn't exist yet) and took me a while to figure out what it is.
Rest: I presume that will come later, but at least a disabled indicator for where that option will be would be useful - currently I don't see where it could be comfortably and conveniently put

A suggestion for the alpha period: it would be useful if the build number would be in an easily accessible spot; for example the top of the Characters list; so we can add that to our comments and it would be easier to spot if someone's reporting an already fixed issue because they are using an older build.

Why are people so confused by the Inspiration sunrise icon. It's nothing new here and has been at the top of the website character sheets forever.
So far I'm finding things very easy to navigate and read. I like the side-scrolling a lot.
Conditions work well and I like the use of the icons. As others have noted, exhaustion is not functional yet, online or off. The suggestion of similar icons for Defenses is a good one.
I hope to see the checkboxes for things like spells, wildshape and rage uses, etc. become functional soon.

Great work so far though - keep it coming!
Because sunrise for me is either rest, or light mode (as light/dark mode is usually represented by a sun/moon icon), and I would have to be very hard pressed to associate it with inspiration. Agree on the other points (reserving my issues with using the app for more than a couple minutes due to the lack of light mode, which is now on the list fortunately).

I’m continuously impressed with the progress of this alpha and the improvements that are being made. I didn’t run into any initial problems with the new release and my quick trial of the new features. Hp, spell slots, and limited features are all working great. I tried out both types of rests and it’s resetting everything it should be. My only question is what happened to inspiration? I noticed that it’s completely missing from the app now and I just wondered what happened to it.
That's curious. I'm guessing the Android version of that update is delayed some more. Can't modify spell slots or click into any details. Hopefully they get back into sync shortly.

Just got my invite today. I like the look and feel so far. One issue i noticed was that i can't change the exhaustion level under conditions.
I'd like to see some sort of sorting feature for characters, maybe a "favorites" feature to pin your current characters to the top?
And I'm curious, is there a plan to incorporate a dice roller into the app?

The thumbnail photos are stored in a very low resolution (I presume to save space) so magnifying that back would not look too great I think.

Just updated the android version, and so far seems good. I'll give it a full try tomorrow in my weekly session as player.
Thank guys for the amazing job you are doing.
