I have a level 3 Rogue that has just gained enough experience points to level up to lv. 4. My question is I want to multi-class my rogue into another rogue so I can get the Arcane trickster anda lso have the Assassin archtype once the other Rogue has reached lv. 3. Would this work?

Sadly no you can’t MC as two+types of the same class, at least not by RAW - that said, like everything here if your DM is willing to let you do it that’s a different ballgame - have fun talking to your DM 😳😁🤪
ive got a few of those builds I would love to do too.
At best you could create a homebrew class that combines the elements you like from both classes. To be honest most of the Assassin abilities kind of suck, and you could easily replicate those benefits using smart spell choices as an arcane trickster... the only thing you're really missing out on is their Assassinate ability to deal big damage to surprised enemies.

Yes assassin/AT could probably be done as a homebrew subclass but what about Fey wanderer/horizon walker 😁?
