Conversions of the 3.5 Favored Soul class exist in 5e as the Unearthed Arcana (UA) Sorcerer subclass of the same name, which as UA content is not "official" and was released as an "option" created by WotC developers for playtesting purposes, and the tweaked and fully official Divine Soul Sorcerer subclass published in Xanathar's Guide to Everything.
The UA version grants the base Sorcerer the same weapon and armor proficiencies as Clerics and free access (as in not counting against Sorcerer spells known) to the Domain spells of one Cleric Domain of choice but no other benefits of that domain. It also gets an extra attack at sixth level and self healing equal to Cha mod + spell level of any Domain spells cast at level 18.
Divine Soul gets access to all Cleric spells as if they are Sorcerer spells but only a single "free" known spell that doesn't count against normal spells known as a sorcerer and that spell is specific to your choice of affinity to Good, Evil, Law, Chaos, or Neutrality. It also grants, at sixth level, the ability to spend a sorcery point once per round to allow yourself or an ally within five feet to reroll and number of dice that restore hit points. At eighteenth level it gets a once per long rest ability to heal yourself up to half of your HP maximum as a bonus action once per long rest.
Both allow you to manifest and dismiss wings at fourteenth level. Favored Soul wings require clothing and/or armor to be tailored to accommodate the wings and grant a fly speed equal to your walking speed. Divine Soul wings specify 30 ft fly speed and that they disappear if you die or become incapacitated so they won't save you from fall damage if you get KO'd while airborne but they do not require any allowances from what you're wearing.
That 3.5eto 5e conversion document of the Favored Soul is a solid subclass. I've played it as-written a couple times. There should really be an official version of this.
So reinventing the wheel by making it essentially a WIS Sorcerer except with fewer spells in practice since they don't also get the Sorcerer pool as well is more effective than using the "born with magic powers" class as the basis for "born with divine magic powers" concept?
But the Chosen get a bunch of NPC abilities that would be very broken for a player character to have.
I'm still convinced that people think being favored by Celestials/Gods to gain Favored/Divine Soul is the same as being their Chosen, likely due to misinterpreting the Forgotten Realms Fandom wiki's blending of multiple eras of continuity.
"Favored" and "Chosen" have similar but different meanings in this context, and are words that carry the same connotation in the context of divine influence, hence why the association may lead to mix-ups.
Mind you, this is only speculation about 5e-centric players.
3.5's Favored Soul was an entirely different thing.

I just realized (unless I'm wrong) that the Favored Soul class is not in 5th Edition. I wonder why that decision was made. Does anyone know?
Apart from the ones that are now subclasses, very few prestige classes survived the edition change, so it seems odd to specifically mention the one that almost exists in Divine Soul sorcerers.

For the King!
The Favored Soul is a subclass of Sorcerer.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

The Dragonlance version of Mystic may be floating around somewhere as well, or a conversion thereof, making favored soul redundant.
Thank you for your time and please have a very pleasant day.

Having this be a Sorc subclass is just idiotic in the first place. Need to homebrew it back into Cleric where it belongs.

It's not the same thing as a Chosen of a Deity in the FR.
I think that's what people are getting confused by.
