Came here for this reason as well! I haven't played D&D in a LONG time... I was 14 and it was the early 90s. No idea what revision but we were playing AD&D at the time. Fast forward to now and being stuck in the house with the family... and I got the itch.
I've run one session pen & paper. I took advantage of the 50% off PHB coupon in my starter kit box and have added their characters. Today will be session 2 and I'm excited to not have to flip through pages ... although I do like the "feel" of pouring over the books but I think I'll like the time playing instead of that more.
I've preloaded what I'm expecting the next 5 encounters to be in the campaign. I have a tab open for each of their character sheets. I'll still use my DM screen and dice, and probably pen & paper to jot a few notes (I could use notepad but find old school faster for now).
So, in short, they'll play pen & paper but as a DM I'm hoping this will reduce non-playing time.
