A friend and I are reading through the Monsters of the multiverse and while we are unhappy with it, we noticed something strange. None of the races have stats or languages. Did I miss something and they are listed elsewhere, or is this book getting rid of stat bonuses and starter languages?
When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. Follow this rule regardless of the method you use to determine the scores, such as rolling or point buy. The “Quick Build” section for your character’s class offers suggestions on which scores to increase. You can follow those suggestions or ignore them, but you can’t raise any of your scores above 20.
Languages
Your character can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character. The Player’s Handbook offers a list of languages to choose from. The DM is free to modify that list for a campaign.
This has been covered extensively over the last year-ish. The playable species of Mordenkain's Monsters of the Multiverse (M3 from here out) do not have fixed stat bonuses or hard-locked languages. Instead, they use the floating points/languages system introduced in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. This is the general plan for playable PC species moving forward. You still have stat bonuses and starter languages, you simply get to choose them rather than having them imposed on you.

Ah, okay. Not sure I agree on that, but, suppose the joy of DMing is ignoring the rules I don't like. Thank you!
