Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this to, but I found a group of players (3) i want to DM for to make an omori campaign. These are my goals:
- CREATING AN OMORI-LIKE STORY FOR A CAMPAIGN, WITH ALL THE CHARACTERS (Jawsum, Sweetheart, Etc)
-GIVING OFF AN OMORI VIBE (horror, depression)
-CREATING AN EMOTION SYSTEM IN DND
-CREATING CHARACTER SHEETS FOR MY PLAYERS
can anyone help me? thanks :3
NOTE: I have all dnd 5e resource books+ campaign books, I’m thinking for the characters maybe:
BASIL: Shifter Druid
OMORI/SUNNY: Generic Human Fighter/Rogue
HERO: Half-Elf Cleric
I suddenly want a chef cleric subclass. More seriously, I’m not quite sure from your post how closely you’re planning on following the story. It seems you want the same characters around, but there should be enough variation (and enough room for players to take it off the rails) to make it distinct.
As for mood, I think there’s three main things. First is the mystery lying at the center of it all; the question the players are drawn closer and closer to answering, even as the get the sense that that might really not want that answer. Second is extreme contrasts, a seemingly innocent and joyful “first layer” that hides Something far darker underneath (Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass also does this great if you want more examples to study from). Third, when it finally comes time to answer everything, pull no punches. Dive right into the full tragedy of the truth.
The emotion system could probably be replicated by giving a buff and rebuff for each state, and vulnerabilities and resistances. Balancing it is another matter I can’t help you with.
Thanks a lot! Also, for the story, I want the same characters, the truth, etc but I do want it to be different, mysterious and distinctive. This is quite helpful, ty!
