It looks like there'll be one subclass in there... but the UA had three 😢 where's my dino druid and rune wizard?
Considering that the Barbarian already follows the UA Subclass feature progression that all classes are moving to, it makes sense. It will work with the new PHB where as the Druid and Wizard don't fit that model. I would guess Feats will have level prerequisites as well.

Sure, I get that... but I didn't think that would translate to a moratorium on all nonstandard progression subclasses until then! It's not like the playtest stopped them from printing Lunar Sorcery after all.
Now we'll have to see if the subclass survived more or less intact from the playtest version or if it's been nerfed into oblivion.
I expect Elemental Cleaver to be nerfed to 1/round. If all its features trigger on each hit it will easily be the highest damage barbarian in the game, minus Dual Wielder Beast shenanigans.

There is a bit of a difference here though. BP:GotG is coming out within a year of the new PHB where as the DL came out last year. I would not expect to see anything else designed using the 2014 as its core.

I expect that too but I hope not. As it is, it's competitive with the Zealot's 1d6+half level damage, but if it only triggers once per round it becomes strictly worse because it's limited to damage types that far more enemies have resistance or immunity to. At say, 10th level, a Path of Giants barbarian would be getting an extra 2d6 damage most rounds, with 3d6 being possible with Pole Arm Master, Haste, or the occasional Great Weapon Master bonus attack. That's competitive against a Zealot's 1d6+5 damage once per round, whereas the Giant Barb only getting 1d6 damage per round would be worse than the freaking Battlerager.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

I guessing all of you saw the news today, I am still excited for this book. But I also hope they can clear up some questions about the subclass.
