This is so stupid - I won't ever buy a book just to get 1 or 2 things I want, but I have spent a money on pieces and think that was one of the best things you guys did.
Shame on you for changing this, not all of us can afford to buy all the books or a majority of the books.
Just stop being so hungry for cash grabs that it turns us away.
Ya Dnd beyond has gone greedy and they do not want players to just buy the items that we want only and forcing us to buy the whole book that we do not want. They better change their sells model or a whole lot of us will be going to other companies for our content. So better fix this fast and let us buy what they want or DnD beyond can £ off
Bring back individual item, monster, class, etc. purchases! That was a fantastic feature of D&D Beyond that really compelled me to use the tool for more than characters. I don't want to buy a whole adventure/campaign book I am not going to run because there's 1 cool monster in it that I'd like to use in my own campaign. I would (and have) bought the monsters and items.
The way you are currently handling "legacy" monsters and items is super annoying, too. If I've got the legacy item in my legit purchased content, let me use it in Encounter Builder. Don't block it or let me add it and then blur the content. If you keep deprecating the monsters/items/etc into legacy status, there will be precious little to use...and it isn't a motivator to *pay* for the new version of it because that new version is going to get deprecated at some point.
By the way, I bet your web metrics stats show that click through from an individual monster to purchase of a whole book shows a higher abandon rate than compared to click through and buy a la carte.
For years I wanted to get into D&D but the price for the hobby is always been a deterrent.
Not counting finding people to play with.
So I just recently got the app about a month and a half ago I think.
Trying to get into the hobby.
And yes it's extremely limiting and difficult to learn.
Let alone get access to what you actually want to try and enjoy the hobby.
Losing this feature is just really bad for getting new players.
D&D is not a small investment in terms of a hobby.
It's not like a card game where you can just buy a structured deck.
Home brewing everything the DM's and people you play with may not be okay with all that.
And want them more organic experience.
I already had horrible experience with the app trying to buy a book just to basically never receive my goods and have to be refunded the credit.
Credit that I'll most likely never be able to use because the product I want can't be bought on the app recommends going to the website. So as far as I'm concerned I'm still out 30 bucks. Smh.
It'd be nice if someone could pick and choose. The book seem intentionally designed to have mixed match. Of everything so you'll never get everything you need for what you're trying to get. A new player will primarily want to focus class feats. And races. But the book may come with a bunch of stuff you'll never likely use until a long time when you try doing some dm,ing. If you have a decide to.
There are some books that only literally have one feet and yet it's a feat I want for one of my characters. And I have to pay 30 bucks just for 1 feat!? It painful.

D&D is free to play, they literally give you all the basic rules and every class for free. Is that the complete experience? No, but it's more than enough for a new player who doesn't yet know if they'll like the hobby and plenty of people have run entire campaigns using just those free rules (I'm one of them) Also if you've not yet found a group I definitely wouldn't be spending any money, you may never find anyone to play with so why waste money? Or they may not use the bits you've spent money on, or they may have it to share with you so you don't need to spend money. Finding a group is always the first step
As for your $30 credit, what are you trying to buy that's not on the app? Because D&D Beyond has everything that's currently available so unless you're trying to buy third party (stuff made by a different company) or something out of print it should be there and it contains everything that's on the website. You can also buy it on the website and it will unlock in the app so you aren't losing any money on yur credit

I was going to buy a whole book at some point but this made me change my mind. Im leaving this shitty site after my current campaign is done.

I was wondering why I couldn't find the option anymore. Wow, what an immensely stupid move.
A true self-own by WOTC—truly the stupidest move ever.

I can't see them on the book of many things, but can still see them on other things I dont own that are recent purchases.
Maybe they've trying out not offering them? That would be odd considering the dndbeyond business model and all but yeah.
Maybe they're gonna add them after a few weeks to encourage full boom sale not just chunks https://100001****/ https://1921681254.mx/ ?
