As I understand most campaigns end at or around level 12-ish, because so many DMs can't manage/balance the complexity of combat beyond that level (due, perhaps to the power of magic at or above this level).
There have been hints in the previews of the September 2024 PHB of epic feats and better capstone skills for classes and subclasses ... so can the designers please ensure that inthe 2024 version of the game, they address the power disparities in the 2014 version of the game so that their hard work designing these high level abilities will actually pay off, in that more and more players will get to the appropriate levels to select and use and test out these feats and abilities?
Doing my job to make sure the designers can see all those elephants in this room.
If you think they are reading this forum to see what little people like us post, you are sadly mistaken. Also, at this point, the content has finished development, so it is what it is.
I'm dubious that it could be truly fixed using 5e. The chaos from having so many varied powers is what makes it difficult. Capstone abilities really polish off the idea of balance since they're generally so powerful. It's not so much that Wizards are more powerful than Monks, but that characters are so powerful but limited by scarce resources that you can't really account for it. They could blast through everything you out up...or they're exhausted and get blown over by a particularly robust wind.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
I've played several campaigns that got to 18 or 20. Sure, things are a lot different in that end game space than the first 5 levels, but it is still enjoyable. I don't do the one shots to try out some weird build, these are characters I have lived with for years and made the choices as we went. So, I'm sure my experience may be different than others, but please don't paint us all with that kind of sloppy brushwork!

Thanks for reading.
The hard part is getting most people to agree on what the "power disparities" and "appropriate levels" even are, let alone what to do about them. What you see as an elephant, might be completely inconsequential to me and vice-versa.
