I remember in 4E for one encounter we used jelly babies as minions. (Needless to say the controller had most of them!) That being said our group tends to bring something nibbly to share so we're not short of candy/snacks
Going off what someone else said, you could use pieces of candy. If you want to use something shiny, you could use those chocolate coins, but I'd suggest Hershey kisses.
My day job has me working at an elementary school, so I'd also suggest stickers.
How about using a piece of candy? The player has to eat it when they want to use the inspiration.
Not only is it an actual OOC reward, it also encourages the player to
eatuse it instead of saving it for long periods of time.Cool idea!
