I just meant on file in general, not unlock them on here. It was last in priority of all the options I put there because it was of the least priority, aka not a mainline suggestion
Geez..
Since there are no other official and legal digital versions of the books what you're recommending would involve piracy which is not something allowed to be mentioned or discussed on this site no matter how vague the attempt is.

eBay, or borrowing them from friends. A library or used bookstore might have them.

Yeah, that's all I meant. Nothing illegal implied.

So you meant they should buy physical books for them to get the books to work on DDB?! Not sure how that is gonna work without a steep learning curve on the home brew tool and a way overpriced buy in for the out of print physical legacy books, "borrowing them from a friend or library"could be a fairly grey area considering having someone key the info in has been called piracy on this site in the past and sharing your login is clearly against the TOS/EULA, and publishing copyrighted content is extremely against the rules. Buying the available content ie Monsters of the Multiverse on the site is far and away the best option rather than risking account and purchase deletion for a couple of legacy books that were replaced by a single book regardless how inferior it may be.
The discussion of now-discontinued books is not really relevant to this thread as the OP specifically asked for "a list of source books that can be bought digitally on this site". Books like Volo's and Tome of Foes are not "source books that can be bought digitally on this site" so they are not relevant.
At the same time, it is not helpful to spread misinformation or otherwise try and invent hypotheticals beyond what is being actually discussed on this thread to insinuate that other users are advocating for violations of the site's rules or copyright law, seeing as no one is actually advocating for either.

In the interest of circling this post back to the actual thread topic instead of the spiraling sidebar, I looked through the list of sources and came up with my raked top 5 purchases for player-facing options. Even though items are player facing, their distribution falls under the DM's purview, so I am not including item-heavy books on this list.
1. 2024 Player Handbook - this is a no brainer for option One. It contains the modern classes other elements build on, a great list of subclasses, the modern species, spells, backgrounds etc.
2. Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse. Though mostly a DM-facing product with its long list of monsters, this book contains 34 species options, drastically increasing the number of races your players can play as.
3. Xanathar's Guide to Everything. With 95 spells, 15 feats, and 27 subclasses, this is a huge expansion on player options.
4. Tasha's Cauldron Ever Everything. While the optional features are not as important now that 2024 is out, and a number of the subclasses are already superseded by the 2024 PHB, Tasha's still offers a huge range of subclass options for players to choose from.
5. 2024 DMG. This is a bit of a weird choice, since, in terms of content, the only character sheet content is the 400+ magic items it brings. However, the DMG also contains the bastion system, a player-facing tool no other source presently covers. This tool is still in its infancy and will benefit with the expansion of bastion options in future books, but still is a fun little way for players to get a stake in the world. Not everyone is going to want to use it, which is why I ranked it last on the list, but it still is fun for those who do.
Honorable Mention: Tal'dorei Campaign Setting Reborn is third-party content, but, unlike the bulk of third-party content on this site, most of what Tal'dorei Reborn contains is fairly well balanced when compared to 2024 content. The subclasses tend to be fairly interesting and do things that are relatively unique, making it a solid purchase option.

It's just good to have the core 3 in general.

My Homebrew
I don't think anyone can buy, borrow, or download a digital version of those books that isn't in violation of piracy laws.
Yeah, that's all I meant. Nothing illegal implied.
