Well this extension still be usable once it is transferred to WoTC?
It shouldn't affect it. While we don't have any official WotC 'ruling' about it, I see absolutely no reason for them to not be as welcoming to our third party tools as DDB was before the acquisition.
With Forge/Foundry VTT now working official together with DnDBeyond (https://forums.forge-vtt.com/t/d-d-beyond-integration/13331), I'm not sure if they are soon still welcoming other websites so much. I would not wonder if WotC is planning to also buy Foundry VTT, since the adventures will be so tightly integrated in Foundry (watch the video) . So many people asked DNDBeyond to finally provide a VTT and now it seems they have listened. IMHO DnDBeyond will provide a streamlined version of Foundry VTT with the most important modules integrated (like Midi QOL with auto rolls), so also beginners can use it. Put that all together in a "Adventurers tabletop bundle" and they dont even have to be welcoming or hostile to third party tools - competition would naturally die. Let's see, time will tell....
Forge is a hosting provider for Foundry, and the "Official" PLuging working with is the Beyond20 plugin. Foundry will unlikely to sell to WoTC because its not just a DnD system but pathfinder, and pretty much every other game out there.

I'm confused now. Neither on the webpage where it was announced nor in video they talk about the Beyond20 plugin. It looks like the import is native in the Forge?

Sorry if I'm mistaken here.
No, you're right, the D&D Beyond conversion is specific to the Forge and it has nothing to do with Beyond20. Also, D&D Beyond didn't participate in that integration, they didn't "listen", it is a 3rd party tool, just like Beyond20, independently developed. The books are downloaded on your behalf from D&D Beyond and converted to a format that Foundry recognizes, it is done automatically every time a user does the import, it is not data that was made for Foundry that is being released (that would be a breach of copyright law and we are not authorized to distribute D&D content, but we can convert it to a different format for the user).
As for buying Foundry VTT, I doubt that, for the same reason Enazel stated, Foundry is not exclusive to D&D and its success is thanks to the community of module and system developers, it would likely not be something that WotC would likely be interested in. Most large company prefers to keep full control over the user experience, and Foundry goes completely against that.
I haven't released an update in a few month as things have been particularly stable, and there hasn't been any need, but I still work on things and I expect I'll do a release soon-ish with some new features.
The website does need an update though, but the extension is working great! :)
I probably know the answer to this one but figured to ask:
Does Beyond20 only work in a single instance of a web browser (via multiple tabs or multiple windows)? That is, it would not work if I used Chrome for Roll20 and Firefox for DDB (both with their respective Beyond20 browser extensions enabled)? Nor would it work if I install multiple copies of, say, Chrome so that Roll20 is using the one found under a "chrome" directory and DDB using one under a "chrome2" one?
My intent would be to have Roll20 always open in the middle of my screen and DDB to the right, but as they share the same browser, Chrome's window setting just keeps the last one used and cannot automatically place itself as planned.

Any advice (if even possible)?
Hi,
Yeah, it wouldn't work, as it can only communicate within the same browser.
You may not be able to have your browser "always open in the middle of the screen" but you shouldn't have a problem opening them and moving the windows. What I generally do is open my VTT page, then my DDB page, drag the tab out to get two windows then move it to the side of the screen to snap to the right, and then select the VTT tab to snap to the left, and I play that way. Takes only 5 seconds and only need to do it when I start my gaming session, without having to change any window placement settings for my browser.
Thanks for the response. I gathered that was what I was supposed to do. I have the window-position pull-down-from-top and use that to snap Discord to left, VTT to middle and (once I make DDB into a windowed pane, rather than an additional tab) put DDB to the right. I know it is somewhat quick - I was just looking if there were alternatives.
Hello, I've got a couple questions. In DND Beyond Booming Blade is automatically linked to the weapons for when you attack. I'd like to try to set something similar up for hex. Is this possible in any way? On top of that, Booming Blade when rolled through Beyond20 into Roll20, automatically rolls the 2nd damage for booming blade(for when the target moves), and adds it to the total damage of the attack, is there some way to stop this from happening? Either stopping the 2nd damage from automatically being rolled at all, or separating it from the total?

KaKaRoToDM can correct me - but if you're using Beyond20 (the browser addin) - it takes whatever D&D Beyond is spitting out and just parsing that data out.
So the change would have to come from D&D Beyond. Again, I could be wrong. (I also don't use Roll20 for VTT enough to know it all that well)

@SirTawmis is exactly right, Beyond20 takes whatever is shown in D&D Beyond and parses that data. Booming blade isn't linked automatically to weapons, but when you click on a weapon, you can see booming blade as an option and you can roll from there.
As for rolling the second damage, Beyond20 has always had the policy of rolling everything and then you, as a player, can get to do the math to figure out what your actually damage is depending on the circumstances. If you roll only one damage, then you wouldn't be able to tell it to then roll the second, etc...
As for Hex, if you're a player who uses Hex often, then in your beyond20 character option, add under Custom damage: "Hex: 1d6" to get hex damage added to your rolls. Or set up a hotkey so that when you roll with the hotkey pressed (I use "H" personally), it adds the "Hex: 1d6" custom damage.
This just started happening to me, Beyond 20 worked perfectly for over a year, then one day I open everything to play a session and get this message...No VTT found that matches your settings. Open a VTT window, or check that the settings don't restrict access to a specific campaign. if anyone knows what might be going on, please help. I have removed and re-added Beyond 20, tried different browsers, same message.

Earlier today, Roll20 have changed something in their app's URL which causes Beyond20 to stop recognizing it, this update (2.91) should fix that.
I sure do hope so, thanks for the input:)

Absolutely!

What setting do I need to change to stop my roll20 results from looking like this?
I want them to look like this
I've flipped every switch I can find in Beyond20 and nothing has changed.
Thanks.
That's not Beyond20.
That's the Character Sheet being used in Roll20.
You can change the character sheet template.

More specifically - you need to go to your Roll20 game settings and select “D&D 5e By Roll20” for the character sheet template.
