I have a Master Tier subscription, PHB, XGTE and a few other odds and ends. Now I know if I create a campaign, invite people and turn on content sharing they can make characters using that content. I know if they have different purchased content it is also shared.
But how wide is that sharing? Let's say I share the content for Player A in my Campaign. Can Player A make a character with any content I have, then use that character in a campaign from a different DM that I am not involved in? Or will it only allow them to use that character in campaigns that I am in?
What happens if I am in a campaign but not DM. All the other players make characters using my shared content, but then I leave that campaign? Will they still have access to those characters? Can they level up? If they level up can they choose feats/spells etc... from the content I had previously shared?
I know there is a 5 campaign limit at this time. What happens if I create 5 campaigns. But then join 3 others made by other DMs? Can only 5 of those 8 be sharing my content? Or can I not join other campaigns if I am currently running 5 as DM?
Player A can make that character in your campaign, then leave and place that character into another campaign if they desire, but they cannot use your shared stuff to advance in level, only the stuff shared in the current campaign.
Same as before, after you leave, no one can use your stuff to advance in level. If someone else has the books, they can use those instead.
Your five campaigns will stay the same, when they lower the limit back to three, you will still have your five unless you remove content sharing from one of the five. This includes campaigns you are the dm or not, the main factor is you turning on content sharing I believe.
Hopefully this answers some questions, these are to the best of my knowledge how things work currently.
Minor correction to 1 and 2. They can level up the characters, but will not be able to make new selections (spells, feats, etc) that are not currently shared to them.
You can run or join as many campaigns as you want, but can only enable content sharing on up to 5 of those campaigns with your subscription. If a different member of a campaign has a sub and enables content sharing, your purchases will be shared as they should be.

You need to be below the limit to share. Once the limit drops back to 3, you'll continue to share with existing campaigns until you drop to 2 or fewer shared campaigns. Then you'll be able to share with other people again.
I have noticed that some of my options got changed when I had a character in a campaign that I created and moved it into the campaign that the DM created. I've got all of the content the DM has and I have have a master subscription. You'll want to verify that your options remain the same going between campaigns.
So if I create 5 campaigns and turn on content sharing, even if I don't add any players at this time, I can use those empty campaigns later if I need them to share content?
The reason I am asking is because I am running an online D&D club for the high school where I teach and many of my students are trying to switch to play online and as more join, I'd like to be able to share my content with them as needed. I'm not DMing, just facilitating. But just like for a normal club they'd all be using my books, I am trying to legally share my content I have here.
My understanding is that you'd be able to share with up to 12 people per campaign and currently up to 5 campaigns. I'm unsure as to limitations on adding people, someone more knowledgeable on that would need to chime in there. But it seems like you'd be Able to otherwise.

From how I understand it, imagine each campaign as a flashlight, and when a flashlight is turned on, it means Content Sharing is on.
Each Master Tier subscriber account is given 5 batteries to turn on 5 different flashlights, and each flashlight can be used by up to 12 accounts.
So while a Master account is only given 5 batteries, a flashlight does not specifically need your main account's batteries. So if you have created 10 flashlights but you can only turn on 5 of them with your batteries, if a family member, friend, or coworker plays D&D and is also a subscriber, they can use their batteries to turn on your 5 other flashlights.
This also means that you can create a second account, give that account Master Tier subscription, and have it join your other campaigns if you want more control over Content Sharing, but I am not sure if that is against the rules to have multiple accounts.

Not sure how that's viewed ToS wise, but DnDBeyond probably won't mind the extra subscription money. I do think that would take up 1 of the shared slots, so at best that would get 55 more players. I would look into it though to make sure that's not specifically going to cause problems (and possibly not cause problems with sharing).

I remember reading somewhere that having multiple users on the same account is against the rules, but I am not sure if the reverse is also true of one user with multiple accounts.
But yeah, having a second Master account does reduce the number of players by 1 per campaign, so it is not a perfect system. I guess you can let guests and new players temporarily play on your second account by letting them borrow your tablet (so you are not putting your password on stranger's devices), and then they can decide whether or not they want to create their own account to keep playing in future sessions. It reduces the prep time a little since the guest does not have to fiddle around with the signup process and can go straight into character creation, and it also avoids potential hiccups during the signup process since we see problems with signups and logins from time to time in the bugs forum section.
Actually, DDB can make exceptions for school and community clubs to increase the amount of sharing you can do. Try PMing a mod or contacting support about it.
In this same topic, if I do not have the master subscription but buy the PHB, I know that they do not have access to the PHB and the spells/sub-classes contained in it. However, can I level up the chars of my players inside my campaign and add the spells and sub-classes that came with the PHB for them? If not, it is pretty evil to ask all players to buy the PHB just so they can have access to all spells IMO, specially for people of countries where the dollar is way too high compared to local currency =/

What exactly is evil on asking a payment for your product? If you don't want to pay for it, you can still use the basic rules, which contain all that is necessary to play the game.

If you own the PHB, then YOU can use all of its contents for your characters.
Nobody else can use your material - unless YOU are in a campaign with somebody else who has a Master subscription and THEY have enabled sharing of content including the PHB. That other person with master subscription can be anywhere in the world, but they must either own the campaign or have a PC within the campaign.

You can buy a subscription for a single month. That's $1.20 per person if there are 4 players and a DM. Everything you add to the charsheets using the sub stays on there, you just can't level them up as long as the sub has expired.

A handful of them buy subscriptions, to allow them to content share. Kindly teach drops a character in, and the student turns on content sharing. All the players in the campaign should have access to teacher's content. With his subscription, he can join pretty much unlimited campaigns, and if content sharing works as stated above, never dip into his own 5 count, unless he chose to. This get a handful of your students involved and contributing (by high school some or many likely work part time) by paying for a subscription to a service they will be using. A great lesson, as a whole, IMO. You shouldn't need too many of them to sign up, as each of them can have 5, which you can participate in.

Can A player who joins a Campaign Share their content with the campaign, or is it only to person that makes the campaign?
Anyone in the campaign who has a Master Tier subscription can enable content sharing (doesn't have to be the person who created the campaign) and by default everybody's content is shared (though individual sources can be blocked if so desired).

Does content share ONLY share books or if I've bought say subclasses or spells from a book, does it open that too?
Content Sharing will share all books, databases (monsters, spells, etc.), and certain info pages (races, classes, etc.).
Content sharing will only unlock character sheet options within the campaign that it is shared.
