What would you do if none of you discussed what role you would take during character creation, all of you thought support would be the uncommon pick, so you all went support?
At first level it could be awkward but within a few levels some players would start to build tanks (within the limits of the rules) and some would build ranged fighters and some would build healers/thieves/whatever. I think that would be extremely rare. I would think you would risk getting two paladins, two barbarians and two rogues, or some similar concentration in fighting styles.

It'd like be fine. The current edition of D&D doesn't really care about roles, and all the 'support' type classes can be all played very differently.

Sounds like fun.
WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
5e is forgiving with team composition and character builds...it all seems to just work out in the end.
