I’ve created several characters, but just recently created a campaign. How do I move these characters into a campaign without recreating them? I’d like to take advantage for the new game log feature.
I was also trying to do this all day. I think I just figured it out. BUT please, if anyone knows a better way, I would love the help. This seems like a cheap way to do it.
I assume you are talking about PC but I think it would work using them as NPC, too.
In your Campaign, copy the link that you would normally send to your players. Paste that bad boy into another tab. It will ask you to join the campaign with your own characters as long as you are still logged in.

I don't think it's cheap. It's easy, it works, it's literally what you'd do to add someone else's character to your campaign.

Want to start playing but don't have anyone to play with? You can try these options: [link].
I did it for my old characters in a new campaign. I think you might have to be careful for NPCs when creating encounters. It defaults to everyone on your list.

I prefer creating NPCs as monsters, with a monster stat block instead of a character sheet, for this reason.

Yes, you can add your NPCs to your campaign, but keep in mind, your players can see them too, if you invite them to your campaign, and your players aren't really supposed to know an NPCs spell list or equipment, for example.
I don't see much advantage to including your NPCs in your campaign, other than as a place to organize them, which could be accomplished with bookmarks or links on your notes app.
There are times where I want the ease of rolling a fully developed character (not all of them... that's what the Encounter Builder is for), and I create a separate campaign named the same things as my other one but add NPC to the end. So, "Descent NPCs"... then I can add the full sheet characters I want and mix and match with the encounter builder. Now, if I have one that is playing with the characters that I pilot around, I'll add that in to the main campaign so they can see. Lots of ways to skin this. Just remember, there is a max limit on number of characters per campaign (12? I think?), so adjust your NPC set accordingly.

If set to private, you can only see name, race and class levels. Still not ideal, but not quite the same as getting the entire charsheet.

Really new to this too!

I'm just getting my players to add their characters now. It's really easy.
Will this work if the characters are mine? Which means they are NPCs of sorts.

Okay, I think I have it figured out now. Thanks to Merigold and everyone for your help.
Glad we could help!
