The world withers under the hellish gaze of a blood red sky. Tyrants rule and each day the wasteland grows as bastions of civilizations blink out. What kind of hero or villain will you be in this desolate place? Welcome to the Athas. Welcome to the World of Dark Sun.
Hello! I'm Lynn and this is my Dark Sun campaign. I've been DMing for a few years now and am very excited to bring this post-apocalyptic hellscape to life. I'm 18 and live in Seattle. I'm an avid storyteller and the pseudo-improvisational, player-impacted format of DnD is one of my favorite things ever. My DMing style is about 60% Roleplay and 40% combat with a lot of voice acting. We will be using roll20 and discord.
This game is an ongoing one with the 3 current players. We recently lost one (from 4 to 3). We're at a good point in the story for new arrivals.
The Campaign This will be a sandbox style campaign with a focus on exploration, player action and choice. I will drop you off somewhere in Athas and let you go wild. While I may write plots and backstory tie-ins, the driving force will always be the players, going where they choose in this desolate world.
Now to talk brass tacks, some grounds rules. -No discrimination, bigotry, that stuff. -Respect your fellow players and me as the DM -LGBTQ+ friendly -If you are uncomfortable with stuff that happens, please let me know and we can work it out!
Gameplay Stuff There is currently no official 5e supplement for Dark Sun so we will be using a LOT of homebrew. The main document will be Dark Sun conversion by MCP, along with a ton of other stuff. All of it (so far) will be linked in a discussion post down below. If you want to implement other homebrew, don't be afraid to ask. We will be starting at level 1 and rolling for stats. 4d6, drop the lowest. If you roll super shitty I'll let you re-roll it's chill.
The Setting Dark Sun is a cruel and unforgiving world with many changes to other DnD settings. -An emphasis on survival and resource management while traveling. -A harsh and unforgiving world that is out to kill you at every turn. -Many fantasy archetypes are changed. Magic kills the world, the God's are missing, halflings are forest dwelling cannibals, elves run across the desert and defile nature, the rulers are cruel tyrants, and many races have been wiped out completely in the Cleansing Wars. This is reflected in gameplay, where some player options have been removed entirely. -The world is dangerous. Heat and lack of water are just as dangerous as wild creatures or raiders. As such, while the campaign IS new player friendly, I would like people to know that it will be scarier and potentially more lethal than the average romp through faerun. -This is a dark setting that may contain darker content, such as slavery, violence, state oppression, and other stuff.
Payment Details
-Roughly 8 Dollars a session, session 1 and session 0 are free. Pay what you can, when you can. Money in my direction goes a long way. -Paying to play both helps me eat and helps with the issue of flaky DM's and players. -Money transferred via paypal -Session zero AND session 1 will both be free. Yay!

ABOUT ME: I'm Rich, a long-time (don't ask!) D+D player. Having lived thru 2nd edition, I find that that edition had the richest variety of settings, and Dark Sun is at the top of that list. (I still have all 2E supplements, and the 4E books); sounds like you have a good grasp of the setting and feel of the system, which gives me confidence.
I'm a Gay Cis Male., and I have access to Roll20, and Discord (I can get you my tag if you need it.) While I'm not normally a fan of Pay-to-Play, I'd be willing to throw down cash, if the game hits my fancy after Session 0 and 1. :)
What's the premise of the campaign, and what characters are already in the party? (I'm pretty flexible about what I play, especially when it comes to Athas, since the class/races combos are so drastically different from the core rules!!)
Thanks for your time, Rich
