I'm an experienced dungeon master starting a new campaign looking for players who enjoy participating in the story telling process. I tailor games around player interests and input and run them to have a balance of story telling, role playing, dungeon crawling, city building, and armies management. I will use D&D 3.5 edition for this game. The world is my original creation. Theme is standard D&D environment. If this sounds appealing to you, please post a reply below with answers to the following questions to give me a sense of your level of interest, experience and story telling abilities;
1. Tell me everything about your character. Name, personality, dress, backstory, skills, relationships, desires, faults, quests, possessions, future plans and present location and situation.
2. Tell me about yourself. Name, age, interests, what you're doing in life now, why are you interested in playing D&D in general, why are you interested in playing now, what's your experience with role playing games, experience with D&D 3.5e, preferred rules edition.
3. Create a location to add to the world. Name it. Describe it in detail. What does it look like. What is it like to be there. What do in game people think about it. Give it a history. Tell me why it's interesting. What possible quest threads could this location connect to?
4. What's your timezone and availability schedule. What software do you prefer to use for our online game (skype, discord, other, etc). Any additional online tabletop software you like to use.
I'd be very interested in joining. My time zone is US-Est time. Mon-thurs any time after 4pm is perfect for me. Sat-Sun any time if told in advance/or if scheduled. If you allow homebrew my character is a magic cat named *****. He was a normal cat who belonged to a family of four. Mom, dad, son, daughter. One day a mysterious group attacked the home, leaving none alive, except the father. He cast a spell on the cat with one motive in mind. "Survive". As ***** escaped the home he wandered the town getting scraps here and there. To shorten this a bit, I'll say he learned he could speak, oddly he has the voice of his former owner. He can do a little magic as well. I just thought this would be a fun choice to rp lol.
To not drag on much longer, the other character I have if you don't want homebrew is Yugo. A rogue human character with jet black hair, bronze skin tone.
Kromeo, Weirdpie, don't worry about not knowing 3.5 edition. We'll make it work. Start with the non-technical details first; story, backstory, personality etc. Yugo, homebrew is fine. And don't worry about dragging on. I'd much rather have more input than less. Discord acct #9532
Your adventure begins in the village of Hearth, a salty old village buried in deep snow and built out of beautiful shining bluestone brick. The Gathering at Hearth has begun, which means that the roads of Hearth are seeing more travellers than usual. Paths are beaten icy and muddy with the footprints of boots and ox drawn carts down to the Reeg Quarter, the docks, and up towards Haemon's Pass leading out to the old western road. Hearth sits upon a large stone pleateau about 50 miles long north to south and 10 miles wide between the sea and the Bottom Plains which stretch out westwards. Although small, it is a prosperous place with many happy and proud inhabitants.
But you are not one of them. You are a guest here today and you are now drying off and resting from your journey in a large room with dry logs burning the round firepit of Utim Toem, the name of the Inn. After asking what Utim Toem means, a blond bearded resident informs you it roughly translates as "dying onion light" in the local dialect, so you drop the inquiry. Suffice to say, you appreciate the warmth of the fire and the comfort and beauty of the room which seems to breathe with history.
Here are two additional player applications I received at Roll20.net to join the campaign. I will do some tweaking to fit everyone's contributions into a consistent theme. But I'm putting them here as submitted for now.
Name: Reyal Rin Xicis the 2nd
Personality: Xicis is my take on a CN creature similar in many ways to a fey. He likes to pull pranks, likes to laugh, and loves to enjoy good company with the people he happens to be with at the time. Xicis is a person that loves to move, and he does so quite often. As long as there is a spark of adventure to be had he jumps to the occasion. He is an optimist, and laughs away any negative emotions. He does have his issues, but he prefers to be the shoulder the party can rely upon when things go bad.
Dress: Xicis prefers to dress business causal. A long coat covering a dress shirt and dress pants. He wears something similar to slacks, and prefers to travel moderately comfortable. He has long hair and prefers to keep it tied back in a ponytail. Backstory: Xicis was born the son of a king in a country that exists somewhere within the demiplane of Elsewhere, a place that exist in between the great astral sea and the prime material plane. It is a place of chaotic origin formed by the god Solomon. He attempted long ago to form a perfect world a utopia of sorts, but as fate would have it Solomon never finished the plane. What he created was but a figment a passing fancy of a demented god. A land of silver deserts, and rageful monsters. Xicis the 2nd prince was a happy child. He was raised to specialize in magic while his brother specialized in martial. Remial Xicis was the next in line to rule the land. He was good looking, fair, and righteous. A true lion hearted individual. Xicis was raised from birth to replace his uncle who was a court magician; a role used to support his brother who would have been the next king. All of Xicis's memories were of training, spending time with his brother, and enjoying the high life. Like elsewhere these memories were but a passing fancy. One day, a day like any other Xicis was relaxing in the courtyard of his castle. The desert had blessed the land with a light rain shower refreshing the weary desert people. At this point in his life Xicis was barely a young man who just finished his training. As he was relaxing he felt a cold hand upon his face. He suddenly felt light headed, and eventually fell into a hard sleep. As he fell his nose picked up a tinge of smoke. He would eventually find himself waking up, in an unfamiliar location. His mouth tasted of metal, and the fellows around him seemed rather testy. He cracked a joke, and for the first time in his life felt a jarring pain to his groin. There response was to be expected kidnapping a royal of an otherworldly plane. Xicis was well aware of what was going on, so he had been kidnapped. Was he going to be sold into slavery, or did the kidnappers have more devious thoughts? After being ruffed up some more Xicis asked where in elsewhere he was? The fellows around him laughed, and muttered something he didn't quite catch. They mentioned he was in a place they referred too as the material plane. He looked frazzled, and decided to take what they said at face value. He was a prince faraway from home. Many people might have been heart broken at such a thought, but not Xicis the kidnappers unknowingly gave what he craved for the most release from a royals life. Xicis was eventually sold, and started his life as a slave. He was abused rather regularly, but eventually managed to buy his own freedom. He wanders the land searching for greater purpose.
Skills: Xicis is a wizard who knows his way with words, while he isn't the best at it I do believe that he functions rather well. As a wizard Xicis is good with spells and knowledge. He will specialize in conjuration as a school.
Relationships: Most of his relationships deal with those who are not the most lawful. At the current time Xicis knows quite a few merchant bands, and many people who seek refuge from slavery. As a former slave he has many old flames and connections. While he is of royal blood he prefers to ignore his past if whenever possible. Xicis can make friends anywhere, but trust very few people truly. Xicis is currently looking for a group of revolutionaries that fight slavers and those who cause injustice. Xicis had a fiancé, but it is likely she has moved on.
Desires and Faults: Xicis is rather simple he wishes to enjoy travel, and wishes to enjoy the perfect brew. He wants to find people to whom he can enjoy his time with. He might wish to return home one day, but wants to go back when he is strong enough to win his freedom. Xicis is a rash man, and he tends to be too laid back. His happy demeanor might be his downfall.
Processions and Quests: Xicis owns a longsword given to him by his father, a pipe given to him by his uncle, and a medallion given to him by his fiancé. He keeps these items in hopes that his memories of them can continue to live on. Xicis want to fight slavers, and he wants to make sure that people can always have something to laugh about. Basically Xicis will always be ready to fight some sort of injustice. He always wants to see some of the worlds greatest sights.
Future Plans and Current Location: Find a group as crazy as he is to join in on some kickass adventures, and Xicis is currently traveling in a forest in search of a mystical grove.
Name: Nick Age: 23 Interest: I love to fish and I love to Exercise. Currently: Just finished my associates degree and now I am just taking a vacation from school for a while. Why do I play DnD: I DM a lot and I enjoy making things up and sharing fun memories of said things. I like to entertain people and I enjoy relaxing with a fun game. I play now because I have Dm a lot and I need a break from it. Experience: I dm a lot of pathfinder, I have made a few custom systems mostly halo oriented. I have played shadowrun, 3.5, and quite a few different systems. My favorite Edition: 3.0e, or 3.5e though I am more used to pathfinder.
My Location: Has to be Elsewhere. It is a demiplane in the middle of the astral sea. It is a land where chaos and law intermingle and unusual people are born. Elsewhere is mostly desert; filled with giant scorpions and other dangerous beasts. The sky is bright orange, and the sand is silver. The people generally have an olive complexion and many of them have blond hair and blue eyes. It is a predominately human and elven society. The architecture is mostly elven themed. Elsewhere is a nexus for planar travel through the astral caravan, and is regularly visited by all of genie kind. Elsewhere is a dangerous place where cultures exchange ideas and objects. It is a slave driven society in certain places and not in others. People are generally neutral with Elsewhere. Elsewhere is a demi plane formed by the mad god Solomon. It is an area rife with strife and bloodshed.
I'd put more but I am not entirely sure what your looking for if you need more information feel free to PM me.
Timezone: I live in Eastern Standard Time, and I am generally available all day on game day. Software: I use skype and discord.
If I were to ask a question; are the players going to begin in the same place or are we going to be in different areas?

Here is one more player application. Characters will start on level 0. Which means after you write out a character application like the one's I've posted here I will send you your ability scores and you can then create a character sheet for a level 1 character, and when we begin to play, any class based abilities will be unavailable until you reach level 1.
Name: ‘Sam’ Personality: Trying to do his best, even though he doesn’t make the best judgements. He wants to entertain people and make sure everybody is happy. Sometimes a little too naïve, but he tries to be optimistic. He is mostly looking to fit in with people.
Dress: He comes from a poor family, he’s dressed in rags. Everything he found and was sort of useful he takes. He learned himself to make his own music instruments. Backstory: Sam is still quite young. He always was helping his friends, playing around and imitating bird sounds. But his longing for adventure always got keeping him in troubles. He comes from a small village in a rural area. The first thing he remembers of the ‘stupid stuff’ is not the most important. He got in trouble and most of the time he knew his way talking out of it. When he got a little bit older, he and his best friend Joffrey didn’t only get bruised and hurt after their adventures, they even got in trouble with the authorities; petty theft, vandalism and burglary. According to Sam, this is pulled way out of proportions. Taking a apple or some candy is not really theft and was just a joke. The vandalism wasn’t intentionally and the burglary was to scare miss Waloths, the priest wife. They got away with just a small reprimand and shores they had to do for the village. But something had changed. He had the feeling there was someone watching him all the time. He caught a glimpse of a person once or twice and thought recognizing the priest.
At a summer day he was chasing his best friend Joffrey. Running on top of the (low) roofs and walls. He jumped after Joffrey to the high wall around the priests house. He jumped, but slipped at the last moment. He grabbed an a soundless scream left his mouth as he felt down in the garden of the village priest. Joffrey shouted that he would come to the front door. There in the back of the garden he felt his heart beating. Every second felt like hours. He could hear only the sound of the birds. A grinding screaking sound gets him back to his senses. The backdoor of the house opened. This is his change. He tries to stand up, as a horrific pain runs through his leg. He looks down and sees a nasty cut in his leg from the fall. The sun looks to disappear as the priest cast a shadow over Sam. Reluctant, but unable to do anything else, he agrees to go inside to take are of his leg and get him back home. Sam approached the backdoor. A dark hole was welcoming him inside, the smell of soup, dried herbs and an indescribable heavy smell. The priest guided him to a chair. Even though it was sunny outside, all the curtains were closed. As soon as Sam had taken a few sips of his cup of water, the priest said: “So… now you’re my game for the next hours…”
Joffrey came running around the house block. When he arrived at the front door Sam was already standing outside. “That was quick!”, he yelled. Sam was white as ash. “I wanna go home”, was the only thing Sam could say. Joffrey helped his trembling friend back to his home. The next day Sam was missing. They say the priest helped a search party to find him. But Sam wouldn’t let the priest find him. He just ran, faster than he ever ran. He went on until the flat lands became mountains and he didn’t know the area anymore. Trying to get food by preforming he continued his own adventure. Skills: Sam is a bard, who learned to defend himself. He tries to avoid combat and is skilful to take what is not his.
Relationships: Sam tries to approach everybody open-minded as possible. He believes that by being friendly, you receive friendliness. He only really doesn’t trust priests. He doesn’t like to enter churches and religious sites.
Desires and Faults: Sam wants to take revenge on the priest. If he may choose he would like to destroy all the gods and religious things in the world. He is just too afraid to act to it. He does’t want to admit it to himself, but he enjoys traveling a lot, meeting new people and inspiration for new stories. He is naive and too trustful to people. He wants to see the positive in people. He is afraid that he isn’t good enough and tries to prove others wrong. Even though he sometimes feels in his heart that he shouldn’t do it.
Processions and Quests: While running away from home, Sam didn’t plan very carefully. He grabbed his dad’s armor and crossbow. After leaving the house, he ran by the hide out he and Joffrey mad. Here he got his backpack and whip. He doubted to take the chessboard they made themselves. Eventually he took the game, but left the 2 kings behind for Joffrey. His main motivation is to stay away from home as long and as far as possible. In his head he needs to become a great adventurer to be able to conquer the priest. He loves the new sights and people he encounters.
Future Plans and Current Location: Find a group he can travel with, because traveling alone is boring, dangerous and a bit scary. He is hiking through the woods the last 3 days, after he stole a rapier from some soldiers in a little camp.
Name: Harmen Age: 32 Interest: I love theatre, making costumes, props and playing games with friends. Currently: I’m working intheater and hospitality Why do I play DnD: I love to emerge with friends in a story or adventure or just brainstorm about setting ideas. To find the possibilities to create a character that suits your image of a character. Portraying a personality and absolutely the roleplaying. Being able to play different characters is awesome! Experience: I play and DM a lot of 3.5. I’ve always been interested in roleplaying games and theatre. My favorite Edition: 3.5
My Location: A small rural village. The wide countryside breaths freshness and spring feeling. Most villagers work on the lands. There are a few small shops, bakery, tailor, grocery and of course the church. The villagers are not whealthy and don’t see a lot of visitors. There is a big social control between the villagers and they will almost always defend each other. The biggest rivalry’s in the village are about land property’s and drunk fights in the bar.
Timezone: +1 GMT. At the moment I’m available every day, except Monday evening. Software: I’ve never played online before. I have skype and discord.
I would love to play online and looking forward to hear from you!
1. Tell me everything about your character. Name, personality, dress, backstory, skills, relationships, desires, faults, quests, possessions, future plans and present location and situation.
From his earliest memories, George Spark could only remember living his life in one place - in the busy streets of Waterdeep, the City of Splendor. George was the only child of Martha and Henry Spark, an honest and hardworking couple, Henry worked as an assistant at the apothecary while Martha was a street vendor selling sweets and pastries to visitors, circus performers, and travelers from all over the world. The Sparks were a good family and made every effort to remain out of trouble.
George knows the streets of Waterdeep and does his best to keep up to date on current events. He usually gets his news of the outside world by conversing with adventurers and members of the traveling circus who patronizes his mom's shop. George has seen it all in Waterdeep, one time he even dared to follow a group of adventurers to the entrance of the Undermountain, where dark and dangerous things live. When one grows up in the streets of a place like Waterdeep, one must master the art of listening, quick hands, but most of all, disappearing - that is exactly what little George Spark did.
George desires to leave Waterdeep and see the world, not for fame or glory, but to make a small fortune to help his family.
2. Tell me about yourself. Name, age, interests, what you're doing in life now, why are you interested in playing D&D in general, why are you interested in playing now, what's your experience with role playing games, experience with D&D 3.5e, preferred rules edition.
Tong, 27, Community Organizer, Playing DnD to have fun (and fully embrace my nerdiness), always wanted to play never had a good chance to, no experience in RP, 5e,
3. Create a location to add to the world. Name it. Describe it in detail. What does it look like. What is it like to be there. What do in game people think about it. Give it a history. Tell me why it's interesting. What possible quest threads could this location connect to?
The desert of Madoom, home to a once mighty ancient civilization now buried under sand (To be continued.)
4. What's your timezone and availability schedule? What software do you prefer to use for our online game (skype, discord, other, etc). Any additional online tabletop software you like to use.
EST, Fridays and Weekends are best, I have not used many software but could easily adapt to whichever one, I tried roll20 but never found a game
5. What questions do you have for me?
What kind of players do you like playing with? What's your ideal composition?
After warming your bones a while inside of Utim and sampling some of the yaw (a popular local delicacy being passed around on large wooden plates - roasted chunks of reindeer meat seasoned with a strong crunchy red salt) you step outside into a narrow alleyway for some fresh air. You hear the rhythmic pumping of large steam powered bellows forcing air through a maze of pipes outside of some small building you guess to be an iron workshop. Hearth appears to be filled with many similarly fascinating establishments where all manner of artisans labor away at making precious glass containers, fine metal tools, glazed Bluebricks and tiles, long spyglasses, as well as other rare and expensive items used by those at sea or those who build towers into the sky. The shops and factories do not appear to have slowed even for the festival time of Gathering, a fact which no doubt contributes to their famed wealth and artistry.
Treag Girz, the innkeeper, had mentioned to you that there was a natural public salt bath next door to the inn, and you spot a few large men who seem only to be wrapped in reindeer skin towels shuffling barefoot back into the warm air of Utim. The salt baths of Hearth are renowned for their healing properties and so decide to take a peek. Bowing your head you pass through the small wooden entrance and catch the scent of sulpher on the air, offgass from the volcanic waters pumped from underground. The attendant, a barefoot young man in a thin black robe, leads you to the dressing rooms. He seems not to speak the common tongue but waves away the silver piece you offer as you remember that the baths are free for festival. He passes you a pail and through mime instructs you to wash yourself before entering the baths. Stashing your clothes in a wooden cubby you do so quickly and wrap yourself in a reindeer hide blanket and walk out into a large steamy room. Shining blue tile walls wrap around a bubbling circular pool where men and women sit bathing quietly or talking with soft voices that echo up towards the dome ceiling of glass and tile laid into iron girds. You step into the pool and quickly find yourself relaxing deeply. Leaning back against the pool edge you smile to yourself and rejoice in your decision to visit Hearth.
There's still room to join this game. Starting tomorrow at 12 noon EST. If you plan to join and have not yet connected with me through our Discord server, do so with this link;
You spend an hour in the baths talking to a carpenter and owner of a lumbershop named Hadsin Hardy. Although you didn't ask for any he offers you some advice, "You should go to Opleke For, the hunter trapper outpost 6 miles north of Hearth, just an afternoon's walk away. You can see the Whale's Eye while you're there. What's the Whale's Eye!? Oh, it's a waterfall that cascades into a large spinning whirlpool. Don't fall in, because you won't fall back out! And if you're skilled with bow and arrow you can score some valuable game. The reindeer of Ghalasbo Ude are very fast. But if you snag one you can trade it in for some precious amount of gold at Oleke For. They fetch a hundred gold a hide these days I hear. Just don't go letting the wolves catch a scent of blood on ya. Or else they'll make away with the deer's hide and yours too. It's good work for travelers. Hearthens don't like it. They're too proud. They don't like the stench of dead rotting animals. They only like em' roasted."
The stranger's invitation captures your interest. The cost of your journey has been onerous, and you had been wondering how you might make ends meet. The story seems almost too good to be true. With such a salary you could relax in Hearth in some comfort, at least for a little while. The thought of wolves lends some caution to your excitement of prizing a bag of 100 gold. It wouldn't do you much good if you were dead or maimed. But you figure that the world is full of risks and dangers. If caution was your first and only priority you would have never left home to begin with. Nonetheless you resolve to visit the outskirt outpost to judge for yourself.
Meanwhile back at Utim Toem, some of you remained by the fire. Hearthens enjoy telling stories and you heard tales of the illustrious folk hero Tyuter Wunq from the time before Philosopher's Row was built some hundreds of years ago in the early 4300's. Philosopher's Row is the street where Tyuter had originally set up his laboratory for the study of the heavens and stars. And he made many experiments which lead to great advances in the study of alchemy - one of which was the process of mixing volcanic dust with bone mortar to create Bluebrick. From those humble beginnings came great things. Later after Tyuter's death Hearthens built the Tower of the Stars, a school for the study of astronomy and alchemy where students come from far and around to study the reading of the sky and the making of rare substances.
But before all of this began, Tyuter was a poor and humble papermaker working for a rich bookbinder laboring long hours in the workshop mixing vats of fish acid and pinewood pulp. To this day no one is really sure if his nickname The Man in the Moon came from his interest in the stars or the fact that the skin of his face and arms, like all papermakers, became a colorless bleached white as a result of the powerful acids they worked with day after day. The original shop where he worked, Pygsies Books, is long gone. But the street remains as Philosopher's Row, a bustling center of book sellers as well as alchemist shoppes and laboratories. Each rumor of their wares more fantastic than the next, some disreputable merchants have taken advantage of the street's fame and have taken to selling expensive potions which are little more than ineffectual bottles of pungent smelling herb water or overpriced pouches of sparkling dust that are nothing but a little bit of shining agent infused into white sand and are useless for anything but ensuring one does not slip on the stone approach to your front door. But for the discerning eye, it's still possible to obtain high quality mixtures and ingredients, if one knows where to look and what to look for. So you make up your mind to pay a visit to Philosopher's Row the morning next when you expect the marketeers to be out. You certainly wouldn't mind getting your hands on a bottle of Sea Dragon's Breath which you've had before once and once only. Although it's bite is strong and makes the mouth numb, it left you feeling rather sanguine for a whole week. A pouch of Red Salt could come in handy as well for keeping your rations especially fresh and tasty. But most of all you promise yourself just to take a look around and not get swindled out of your meagre remaining savings.

Hello gamers!
I'm an experienced dungeon master starting a new campaign looking for players who enjoy participating in the story telling process. I tailor games around player interests and input and run them to have a balance of story telling, role playing, dungeon crawling, city building, and armies management. I will use D&D 3.5 edition for this game. The world is my original creation. Theme is standard D&D environment. If this sounds appealing to you, please post a reply below with answers to the following questions to give me a sense of your level of interest, experience and story telling abilities;
5. What questions do you have for me?
I look forward to hearing from you!

I am apart of a group of newbies looking for a dm but all of us are only knowledgeable in d&d 5e
i am part of this group and would love to have you as a DM
Name: Nick
Age: 23
Interest: I love to fish and I love to Exercise.

Name: ‘Sam’
Personality: Trying to do his best, even though he doesn’t make the best judgements.
Processions and Quests:
While running away from home, Sam didn’t plan very carefully.
Name: Harmen
Age: 32
Interest: I love theatre, making costumes, props and playing games with friends.
Currently: I’m working intheater and hospitality
Why do I play DnD: I love to emerge with friends in a story or adventure or just brainstorm about setting ideas.

The desert of Madoom, home to a once mighty ancient civilization now buried under sand (To be continued.)
4. What's your timezone and availability schedule? What software do you prefer to use for our online game (skype, discord, other, etc). Any additional online tabletop software you like to use.

[Part II of the campaign's opening introduction]
There's still room to join this game. Starting tomorrow at 12 noon EST. If you plan to join and have not yet connected with me through our Discord server, do so with this link;

Also write a character introduction.
[Part III of the story introduction]
