First and foremost, thank you so much for your time and attention! Whether we keep your interest or are a good fit on paper or not, wishing you a great day and rest of your week. I am the acting liaison for a small group of friends who have decided to seek out a new storyteller to guide us through a beautifully crafted narrative and world for us to explore, influence and (hopefully) breathe new life into. For brevity, and because this post may very much need a Too Long, Did Not Read, we are wanting D&D 5th Edition for our system, - cherry picking 2024 changes should be fine so long as we are aware, - and either World of Warcraft's Azeroth (Preferred) setting or Faerun. We are looking for someone with a solid grasp of the system, rules and whichever of those two settings may be chosen or presented. We fully understand that Pathfinder 2e and other systems have their merits, and that there are some gorgeous homebrew worlds out there, but would appreciate your understanding that these are our current cravings and we are feeling nostalgic. We are hoping for a Homebrew Story that a dungeon master might pull from Player Backstories to enrich the plot instead of a Module due to pre-written stories having a much more railroaded structure that would make it difficult to explore personal stories.

Medium: Roll20 or Foundry (Map) & Discord (Voice)

Time: Starting between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., ideally lasting around 3 to 4 hours a session

Setting(s): World of Warcraft / Faerun
Type of Game: [✓] Sandbox, [X] Railroad or [✓] Mix

Campaign Length*: [✓] Short Term, [✓] Long Term or [✓] One-Shot
* We actually do want a long term game, but it might be best to start with something short and sweet so you can determine if we are the right fit for you and vice versa without any long term commitments. Consider the check marks on Short Term or One-shot an understanding you might want a trial period that is easy to end on amicable terms if we do not mesh well together.
A Little About Our Group
Myself
Pleasure to make your acquaintance! I was fortunate enough to be introduced to this hobby by my then high school sweetheart now husband and have never looked back. There is something magical and exciting about coming together with good people, newly met or friends for collaborative storytelling. I have a great passion for writing and roleplaying, and while I am greatly out of practice, I still love art and creative pursuits. While I started my adventures years ago in D&D 3rd Edition and Pathfinder 1st Edition, I am very well versed and immersed in D&D 5th edition.I am a support player through and through, whether that is playing the token healer, the buffer, the de-buffer, the damage sponge or any combination thereof. While I do consider myself tactically minded, I do lean more towards basing my decisions on roleplay appropriate responses, even in combat. I have very cursed dice, and unfortunately, I believe my bad luck is contagious. Thankfully, failure can be just as compelling, sometimes more so, than success. I would say my ideal ratio would have roleplay as High, combat and exploration as Medium and puzzles as Low. Sometimes the numbers will be skewed by decisions and story beats, and that is absolutely fine by me.
Must Haves
Potential and opportunity to build bonds. If there is one thing that every Dungeon Master can attest to between all my games.. is that I have a habit of imprinting on Non-player characters that I enjoy and trying to weave them into my story and make them important. The blacksmith's son? I want to know if he is passionate about stepping into his father's shoes. What is his life like? Is this what he wants to do? What are his other passions? The Innkeeper? I want to bring him or her small trinkets to hang up in their tavern, share stories, help keep the tavern from shutting down. Everyone has a microcosm consisting of their inner circle of people they truly care about, and while the other player characters will always be in it, does not mean I want my character's world to only consist of the heroes of the story.
Creative Freedom / Re-flavoring: I absolutely love taking existing features, attacks and spells and having them be very unique to my character without touching the mechanics. Whether this is re-flavoring an Eldritch Blast to being vines, bushes, tress or roots squeezing or draining the life force out of my enemies (Fey or Nature Patron, for example) or having my arcane spell focus be a magical paint brush that I use to "illustrate" effects (cast spells) onto the battlefield. I want to have some agency when I see that Natural 20 or Natural 1 on an attack, and be allowed to give a short description on how and why I succeeded / failed. It is not my intention to be a constant distraction in battles or slow down the pacing, but simply rolling and moving my token will not keep me engaged in fights and I will zone out. This is important for any Dungeon Master to know, especially if any potentials reading this dislike spending more time on turns than strictly necessary.
Would Like
Romance. I am a hopeless romantic. Perhaps it is because my own marriage is lovely and happy, so if I make a character that is receptive to romance.. I would love for them to find their forever person too. Consider this as a hope that player and player slow burns or tasteful courting of an NPC is not outright barred. The comfort of the other players and any potential Dungeon Master is absolutely more important, so it is fine if this type of relationship is omitted. You can, after all, have a very fulfilling character arc by building a strong friendship or rivalry. I am not interested in typing out or vocalizing what happens once the door closes.
A Play by Post for players, like myself, who like having those long, drawn out conversations that we just do not have time for during session. Would be nice, can live without it!
Stat Generation: I am notoriously awful with rolling for stats. We are talking less than 10 across the board. (My personal favorite example being a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11; the DM let me roll 3 times and that was the best array. Let that sink in.) There are a few group based rolling strategies that I have found to be really fun that I would be happy to see, such as everyone rolling a set and the top two being options for a custom stat array. I will always advocate for ways for everyone to feel like they are on the same playing field, so point buy or standard array always have my vote! It would be nice to have a slightly higher point buy total or heroic standard array for the Multiple Ability Dependency (M.A.D) classes. Regardless, if it is live by the dice, die by the dice, I would like to ask that if you roll way below standard array that you be allowed to take standard array or get bumped up a little to compensate bad luck.

The typical things found on r/D&D Horror stories. As someone who has unfortunately been targeted by some very distasteful things, which do not need to be written out, I would like to think 99.9% of issues that would have me leave the call / table / game immediately are very, very rare and never going to come up. As insinuated above, not interested in excessive descriptions of what happens behind closed doors. I am fine with gore, insinuated circumstances of abuse or neglect, violence, etc., but would prefer things be kept tasteful. There are many ways for you to help motivate me and or my character to despise someone / an organization without delving into certain topics. Probably does not need to be said, and no offense is meant!

Hi, I'm Joseph or Koopa. I'm 30 years old and a new father. I've been playing D&D 5e for roughly 6 years and a very brief exposure to PF2E. I'm an unashamed nerd that adores fantasy, sci-fi and above, character growth. I have DM'd several modules, played in a few fantastic games and am eager to play in a new one. I prefer a rough balance of RP and Combat, with my characters tending to fill the niche of Melee tank and support. I would say what I bring to the table are engaging characters that can be slot right into nearly any kind of team; as well as consistency.
Must Haves
A Dungeon Master willing to communicate effectively, providing a challenge for characters whilst being flexible for party and player desires.
A sense of player agency from narrative elements and above all, fun for all parties.
Would Like
A campaign with time between adventures to allow the party to grow closer, craft items, fish and relax, develop and strengthen bonds before setting out on the next adventure.
I would adore a game set in Azeroth with a knowledgeable DM, but would also enjoy a setting in Faerun.
If willing, the ability to use some of our curated homebrew accessible in our other games. Willing to leave some behind if the Dungeon Master is uncomfortable with it.
These include: Valdas Spire of Secrets, Mage Hand Press Classes, Laserllama's Homebrew Classes, Spells and Feats, Kibbletasty's Homebrew Classes, Crafting Rules, Feats and Spells, Dark Magic vol. 1 and 2, Why Slay Dragons when you can go Fishing?, Heroes Handbook (World of Warcraft Supplement) and Champions of Azeroth, Outlands & Northrend (World of Warcraft Supplement).

War-gaming. I loathe it. I am a DM and know full well that the DM will win in any encounter they choose to. If it makes sense for an enemy to behave a certain way, excellent. If a 1 intelligence enemy ignores the raging meat bag barbarian to position itself perfectly to attack the backline, I get mad.
Refusal to communicate with party members. I myself struggle not to sound like an a-hole at times, but an abject refusal to communicate is an untenable situation.
Erotic Roleplay.. is a big, fat NO.
I have played and DM'd several modules, so I am not looking for a module as my first choice. I am not wanting to play in a homebrew setting. I do not want to play PF2E. I do not want to play PF2E. I do not want to play PF2E.
Eldritch
Heya, I am Noah or Eldritch, I am 23 years old (I know I am the baby the group, don't remind me!). I've been playing dnd for about 5 years, have done professional DM'ing and have now been able to focus on being a player. I am a die hard fan of Lovecraft and the genre he created (sorta in the name, y'know?). With my journey into being a player I've played all the roles you can fathom, but I do prefer martials/half-casters. I do love a balance of roleplay, combat, and some thrilling mystery. (One would say I overthink the simplest plots.) What do I bring to the table? Well, I tend to find myself being the comedic relief, if possible. As for roles, I am very flexible and willing to swap around if need be.
Must Haves
A transparent dungeon master who is willing to give a compelling story and treat every player the same.
Agency is great, but there has to be some stake in the story as a whole. Otherwise.. I am quite easy!
Would Like
Downtime! I do love the simple roleplay between players. I am sure we can find some way to get into trouble while fishing or crafting.
Lack I am game for either setting, but I would prefer the setting has a good balance of brevity and stakes.
Homebrew! There is only so much you can reflavor on the base classes - so.. some homebrew options, please?
Did I mention crafting? Oh right, some crafting?
Indifferent To
I do not mind seeing romance between players / NPCs, I am unbothered. I also do not mind it between my own character and NPCs, but it is not my priority whatsoever.
Deal Breakers
Lack of communication, I mean... we are all adults, right?
I do not enjoy the prophesied heroes trope, I like to become the hero with deeds and decisions! Simple.
I am not looking for a module, I prefer campaign settings to play around in.
Availability: The only time frame that works for a member of our trio is mornings, due to work schedule. We are all very consistent and punctual players and rarely miss games. We will try to give as much notice as we are able baring emergencies!
Roster: We are coming in as a party of three, and enjoy meeting new people! We are fine with keeping to a small group, but if more players are desired for balance or variety, all of us feel an appropriate group size for us would be between four to five players with the three of us included. Anymore than that can get a little hectic, and we want to be able to experience everyone shine without interfering with pacing or stepping on anyone's toes. We are LGBT+ friendly allies.
