Game: D&D 5e (2014 Preferred) Group preferred: Online Experience: A few years mostly as a DM but comfortable as a player Location/Timezone: GMT (UK) Availability: Free all day Saturdays (earlier weekdays can be discussed) Preferred role: Player though I am happy to DM in the future Game style: I am looking for a game with a good balance between roleplay and combat. I really enjoy character driven stories, party interactions and moments where player choices actually matter. I like combat that feels meaningful and challenging without it turning into constant grind. I am fine with darker themes and emotional moments but I also enjoy humour and relaxed table vibes. I am mainly looking for a story focused campaign rather than pure hack and slash or overly rules heavy play. If you've got a game like this, Feel free to get in touch on discord: tabletoprolls
Hey I got a game that runs on Saturdays at 4pm UK time and its a dark fantasy campaign where you are criminals. Though it is a paid game of $20 which converts to about £15 at the moment. I understand if it might not be your thing but here is a link anyways. https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmj35szb200dslb04mh8ruh25
I respect that paid games aren't for everyone, but I want to offer a different perspective. The reality is: sustainable hobbies need people who can dedicate serious time to them, and paid GMing is what makes that possible for many of us.
I'd love to run free games for everyone, but the math doesn't work. Between prep, session time, platform subscriptions, and asset creation, running quality games takes 10-15 hours per week minimum. That's more than a part-time job. Most people can't sustain that level of commitment for free while also paying their bills - they burn out within months, and those games disappear. Getting paid doesn't make me less passionate about the hobby - it makes it possible for me to stay in the hobby long-term and keep delivering consistent, high-quality games without burning out. The players in my campaigns get a DM who's still energized and excited two years in, rather than one who flames out after six months. Free games are great and will always exist. But paid games ensure there are DMs who can treat this with the time and care it deserves, which ultimately benefits the whole community by keeping experienced GMs active and available.
If you say so. I've been a DM for around 11 years now, my campaigns have finished and been completed most of the times in which I've ran them. If a person is truly passionate about something, they wouldn't need a monetary incentive to continue attendance to sessions. We all have different experiences and I respect that.

I'm not looking for Paid games, Thank you for the invitation though
yeah I feel like that's the issue. I'm a DM looking for the same thing---but the only interest is 'pay me'.
Yeah, it's pretty crazy that what used to be a fun way to pass the time is being so heavily steered towards a P2P industry.
I am new. Can I Join?
I'm searching for a game to join as a player.. I'm not DM'ing one
