Game: D&D 5e in a homebrew world setting Group type: Online with Roll20 & Discord (Voice) Experience: Any, brand new players are welcome Location/Timezone: DM is in Eastern Time, USA; any location is welcome as long as they can make the session day/time. Schedule: Bi-weekly, Weekday evening (Mon. - Thurs.), Exact day/time TBD by the party Roles sought: Players (5 or 6) Game style: My games are a blended mix of combat and RP. It will be a (mostly) open-world/sandbox setting. I will heavily incorporate backstory, and player choice will dictate much of the campaign. Some parts will be light and cheerful, others will be dramatic and tense.
Setting: The setting is a (mostly) standard D&D 5e world that I have created. It is a living/breathing world, and the characters will play a role in shaping events in the cosmos. Their backstories and choices are reflected, and their deeds (good or bad) affect the world around them. I run games in a "Rule of Cool" style as long as it doesn't break anything too serious, and am willing to review homebrew ideas for play. More specific information will be available once players have joined the campaign to create backstory/general knowledge.
Next Steps:
Please send me a PM indicated your interest in the campaign which includes your Discord name (make sure it is spelled correctly!). I will respond to you here on DNDBeyond with some questions regarding your preferences, character ideas, playstyle, and other general items. If selected, you will participated in a free Session 0 to determine if the campaign is something you would like to pursue.
About the DM:
Greetings! My name is Josh and I am your new guide into battle, potential love interest, and all around bringer of doom! I'm in my 20's, write creatively, and have been watching/ playing/ DM'ing for about three years. I got involved after several bad DM experiences, and have grown to love plotting for my characters, working against my characters, and every now and then putting them in precarious situations. I am finally getting to a point where I am ready to run a full-scale, long-term campaign in my homebrew world. It's creation has been years in the making, and I am hoping to run a campaign to explore themes and have fun with a willing party of adventurers.
I work with my players to create characters, facilitate backstory, and integrate them into the world at large. It is my job to help give each player a reason to adventure and want to survive. I have ideas of things I want to explore, but at the end of the day the characters are writing their own story; I'm simply the narrator! A google doc of rules/information will be shared once a player joins the campaign.

Sessions require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $5 per player, per session (day of session, before or after, is acceptable). As mentioned above, the Session 0 game is free.
Why should I pay for a game when I could play for free?
This is a great question, and I will do my best to show you why I can provide an experience worth $10 a month (really, that's it!). First, a portion of this goes into my Roll20 subscription. This allows me to create a better and more immersive experience for the players, and I am always looking into purchasing more content on their site. Secondly, while I'm no professional voice actor (damn you Matthew Mercer!) I will do voices and accents for various characters within the world (feel free to rib me when appropriate, it's all in good fun! ;] ). Third, I will provide small things (music, macros, one liners, etc.) to help get folks invested in the game.
Fourth, and most importantly, is my own time and effort. I have put many, many, many, many . . . hours into building this world, the people, and the places. I work to make the experience for my players as complete as possible with world maps, tokens, battlemaps, character and location descriptions, and more. Want to hear a description of how your fireball incinerates that bugbear? Bam, I'm on it. Need to interact with random NPC #4? Oops, her name is actually Halla and she's about to make your life interesting because she actually saw the Devil that killed your mother. I know the disappointment that a bad DM brings, and I have a high standard for myself.
In addition, since everyone is contributing to the game it breeds a lower chance of individuals dropping out (so many times...) or being forced to leave due to outside circumstances (even more times...). I want everyone in the campaign, from the players to the DM, to be committed 100% and not have a doubt of where they will be one night every two weeks. I believe that the camaraderie that an RPG group develops can create lasting bonds and have forever impacts; it is my hope that I can create a space where everyone can laugh a lot, have fun, and be themselves.
In Conclusion:
I hope that you'll consider joining my campaign. Feel free to PM any questions you might have, and I look forward to Session 0!
This is the second time I've sat and watched this thread thinking to myself, I'd like to try again.
My biggest problem is I have two kids under 3 years old. I am not available prior to 8pm EST, period. I could do a 4 hour session, but midnight would be my absolute cutoff. I'm up at 5am and less than 6 hours of sleep is already taxing.
Other than that, I am already setup with Roll20 and Discord. I'm also role/class agnostic... I'll play whatever.
But until an 8pm starting time can be confirmed, I don't want to waste anyone's time.
I’ll leave that entirely up to the DM. So far I think we have a cleric, paladin, bard and me. I’m like you in being role agnostic so can play rogue, wizard, Warlock or Druid.

Sounds lofty. I'm interested. Is the game 2x per week or every 2 weeks?
I am interested as well. I do have a few questions.
I have all my books via dndbeyond. How will that work for roll20 when creating characters?
Based upon monthly cost i assume only 2 sessions a month, but how long is each session?
Need to reload discord, last time i used it was for EveOnline
I’m in and it looks like we’re only one player away from getting started!
