Hello everyone, we are currently looking to recruit a few more players to our West Marches server to fill out our roster! If you are currently looking for a game, please consider joining us!
Our server is a West Marches LITE game. Exploration and discovery is at the forefront, with the story of the sessions usually evolving around the players decisions. Roleplay takes the stage in this server, with character development being heavily focused on by our current players, though they are no stranger to combat! In terms of why we consider it a LITE West Marches style is that, we are not your typical West Marches game. We do not incorporate many of the downtime options or city building that other, larger servers have. We are simply a group of friends who wish to have fun and play some Dungeons and Dragons, without having to worry too much about the other details.
Games are guaranteed run on Fridays and Saturdays, and often times Sundays as well, with weekday games by request. Usually, games will start at 7PM CST, but other times are occasionally available by request. This being said, we are not a big, serious West Marches server. We all have work schedules and other commitments, but we try to play as often as we can. Because of this, we don't use schedule bots or anything like that. If a session is requested, a DM who can run it posts it up, and people sign up for it. Usually first come first serve, but we try to regulate it so everyone gets an equal amount of play time! We have two DMs in the US who run games during the evenings, and a DM in Europe who can do afternoon games occasionally, as well as evening games during the weekends as well.
As DMs, we try to develop an immersive world where character choice matters. This means that certain subjects might get brought up. Undeath, sacrifice, horror, blood, the Wish spell, these are all subjects that may be brought up in game. We will never touch on anything sexual, though we do like to explore inter-character relationships. We also tend to run a deadlier world. Despite all this, at the end of the day, we are all just looking to have a fun and enjoyable time playing this game that we love.
As players, I mentioned that we are all friends. This means that we tend to goof off and make jokes during the game. We strive to stay in character whenever we can, but occasionally we'll break immersion and have a laugh about things that happened.
Now, bad experiences are a thing that happen. We've all seen the memes about "that player" and "that guy", so we will have a bit of an application process for players who would like to join. If you'd like to join, please respond to this post answering the following questions to the best of your ability, and we will do our best to get back to you in a timely manner!
What is your experience with DnD? Describe your playstyle and what you would like out of a game. Give us a short backstory idea. How do you handle conflict, both with players and the DM, at the table? Do you have a good internet connection and microphone? What days and times would be best for you? Are you over 21 years of age? (We occasionally touch on adult subjects and themes) Any other questions or concerns you might have.
Here are a couple descriptions of our game from the perspective of our players! (Names have been hidden for privacy reasons)
DnD Addict 1: I’ve been part of the Throw the Gnomes west marches since its conception months ago and there hasn’t been a week where I haven't wanted to play. Every session is always a treat to enjoy whether it was a beach vacation or an investigation into a towns dying farms revealing ugly truths of some townsfolk. In this setting everything mainly revolves around the interactions and stories our characters tell on their outings into foreign lands. Look no further for high tier role play and DMs who make enjoyable sessions so everyone has fun just join already so I can play more.
DnD Addict 2: I was pretty skeptical of online DnD before I started playing with these folks, but now I have seen the light! Roleplay and story are paramount, and it is amazing to watch bonds form between characters that I would never imagine could be close. But, hey! When the thieves’ guild cuts the flighty, paranoid yuan-ti’s tongue out because she accidentally blurted something (psyche! It was because her best friend asked them to) and the goofy, hobo-looking monk acts as her bodyguard the following week, maybe she starts to think he’s alright. And did I mention we live on a flying turtle? Come live on a flying turtle with us and see what these crazy DMs have in store.
We love DnD, and at the end of the day, we are all just looking for a way to escape the current reality we all find ourselves in. If our game can help with that in any way, then we would love to have you with us!
My experience with DnD is going on almost 2 years, I was in a year long campaign that has gone on indefinite hiatus so have been looking for a light game I could join. I have a decent amount of gameplay experience and an addicts level of obsession with the source books, I know too many things by heart and never get to use my encyclopedic knowledge. Describe your playstyle and what you would like out of a game.
My playstyle is to build a character to their backstory and make their class levels and ability scores fit with what they are. I love playing characters that explore the mechanics of the world and the lore. The more I can push a characters growth the more fun I think it can be. I also think it would be cool to grow with the character while roleplaying and that it will help me get better at it. I try to play as close to being a benefit to the party as I can while also striving for the characters personal goals. Give us a short backstory idea.
I have a wizard(UA subclass)/artificer(UA subclass) I was thinking about, he would be a son who apprentices with their father, a smith, and was taught by their mom, a magic scholar. While helping out his father he looses an arm in an accident but through some magic and smithing he would get an arcane powered prosthetic (this plays into his subclass for artificer). He then gets more curious about the functions of magic and that is his reason for adventuring learning more about magic and magical items. He would eventually take levels into both the scribe wizard UA and armorer artificer UA to play further into this prototyping magical researcher concept. How do you handle conflict, both with players and the DM, at the table?
When I'm at the table I will continue on with the game and try to forget, if it was something that was still bothering me at the end of the game I would reach out to them post game and talk to them and just let them know about whatever was bothering me and talk to them like an adult. If it is the DM it's the same emphasizing that I wouldn't say anything during the session and would try to move on myself cause at the end of the day it's a game and I can't imagine anything that would be that aggravating that there needs to be a big problem over. Do you have a good internet connection and microphone?
My internet connection is good and I have more then one microphone so if one goes out by chance I can fix it What days and times would be best for you?
I am free Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays for the most part I should also mention I am in Mountain time Are you over 21 years of age? (We occasionally touch on adult subjects and themes)
I'm "close" to 21, been 20 for a couple months... Any other questions or concerns you might have.
Are there any problems with using the UA content and homebrew, I'm more so interested in the UA I don't use much homebrew.
If you do end up being interested in me feel free to direct message me here and ill give my discord information
