You all currently find yourselves in Gorth, a small village nestled within the Anghor Hills. It doesn't show up on many maps, but it is known for being one of the few places Frade and Oshara share custody of. Some of you have been staying in the city for a while, laying low in one of their inns; whilst others have just arrived after a long journey, clothes tattered at the seems. And finally, some of you have heard rumors of specific information you've been searching for. The off-color limestone that corners every street pops in the unrelenting beams of sunlight. People of seemingly every race crowd the streets, as is customary in such a neutral place. Vendors have set up shop along the jagged roads.
Bertrand enters the cordir and meditates on the knotted stave. When he sees a layperson, he uses his history as a monk to gain access to the cordir's bookstores, looking for any record of it or something similar.
Kerry wanders around Gorth trying to gain information about rumors and current news. Anyone who stays in one place for a while might notice them come in and try to fit in with wherever they are.
You enter Vin's Chalice, the local tavern. The smell of ale on oak hits you as you look around the busy room. A few of the tables feature idle chatter and drunk patrons while others house sets of dice and piles of bronze and silver coins. Two dwarves that look remarkably alike carry platers and tankards back and forth from the bar, where a human female stands. She looks over to you as you approach and says, "What'll it be, whiskers?"
The cordir is quite small compare to ones you've seen. It is, however, the most ornate building within Gorth. The marble used for the structure must have been imported. You are welcome to the archives without issue, a section of the cordir with three shelves of tomes.
You find yourself drawn in by the sweet smells of the Silver Oven Bakery. You enter and notice racks and trays full of psalteries and freshly baked breads. A halfling woman is loading a tray of raspberry danishes. Behind the counter you can see a ginormous figure moving to and fro. The halfling turns to you and greets you with a sweet smile. "Oh, hello there, what can I help ye with?"
You wander the village in search of your desired information. You notice how different thing are here as apposed to your hometown of Wedford. The streets are simple dirt trails and the vendors nearly take up the road with their stalls.
Kerry’s questions pertain mostly to any other nobility that have passed through town recently, but they are also curious as to how the local leaders manage to keep the peace between the two kingdoms so well.
Upon asking around you find that the council that runs Gorth is a mix of races that represent both Frade and Oshara as well as some mutual parties. You get the sense there is a small amount of hostility between full blooded elves and other races that are not of fey decent. There are no known visitors of noble blood according to who you ask.
You ask around and find many villagers are interesting in hiring for small jobs, but nothing seems to draw in a good amount of coin. You eventually find the notice board outside of the Council Hall. You see one pinned at the top from the council themselves: A group of bandits have been intercepting goods being imported from the coast. The bandits have seemingly been tracked down to a hideout within the Anghor Hills, and the job is to clear them out. Reward will be discussed upon acceptance of the job. There is one from a villager named Ireeda, who needs someone to hunt down ingredients in dangerous nearby areas. The reward is 60 gold (per person). And both the local tavern and a shop are hiring for security: Both pay around two silver per hour.
You glance through the tomes but don't find anything relating to your objective. There isn't a wide selection and the can eliminate most of the selection with a glance at the title. Eventually an older woman of elvish decent with flowing scarlet and white robes approaches you. Her auburn hair is tied in a bun, but manages to hide her ears in the tuffs (so you can't really tell if she is full elven or a half elf). She speaks to you in a mysterious tone you can't quite pin, but seems jovial enough. "Are you looking for anything in particular, fair voyager?"
The woman's smile widens. She looks young but has a look of wisdom in her eyes. "Well, ya've come to the right place, dearie. What'll it be?" She gestures to each of the items and lists their prices.
