Your team has been tasked to kill or capture the hobgoblin warlord in charge of the Goblinoid Army. Your mission is fully sanctioned by the Eternal Elemental Coven and the Frelian Defense Forces. You will leave by the East Gate of Freeport and head north to the outskirts of the camp of the Goblinoid Army.
Windy wakes early the next day and goes to check on her friends outside. She sits on the ground outside, crosses her legs, closes her eyes and focusses on the world around her. The chirping, squeaking and chittering of the surrounding animals slowly start to make sense. She listens to the muttering and nonsense of two beetles for a while until she smells food. Content, she stands and shuffles inside to get some.
Xienuty wakes up suddenly and is disoriented for a few moments. Once He gains a better understanding of where he is, he stands up and goes outside to empty his tank from a long nights sleep. Once he finishes, he walks back to where he was and sees Windy shuffling towards food. As he makes his way to some water he says “Mornin”
Misha is sprawled out and wakes in a completely 180 degree position from where she first started to sleep. Her hair is a touseled mess and it takes her a good 15 minutes to brush it all out and pull it up high into a topknot and tie it with her blue ribbon.
She dresses, gathers her belongings and scampers out of the barracks and into the hall where the food is saying “Good morning” in her bright and cheerfully musical voice on the way over.
Misha sits at a table and fixes a plate of breakfast.
The soldier strides in, red hair braided to stay in one place, mostly, and sits down at the table for breakfast (double helping of eggs, sausage, taters, ham, fruit, bread)
After breakfast I am going to excercise with my weapons for 2 hours, basic calisthenics or sparring or both ...Eat lots everyone. I am looking forward to anything Misha creates for us when we are on the trail, but we should still eat everything the FDF feeds us, because the best way to carry rations is inside our own bellies ;) Windy and Zhee i NEW tee? (did I get that right?) while we eat can you please tell us something about yourselves?
Misha finishes peeling an orange and dividing the sections to it’s minimal, divided parts, eating each one individually.
”Yeah! Great idea, Leokoris! If we’re going to be with each other we should get to know each other!”
She looks to Xienuty first. His imposing Half-Orc body is intimidating to her. “How did you end up here to fight off goblins? Aren’t Orcs amiable to goblins?”
Xienuty chuckles softly as Misha asks. He then replies with a slight smile, “In most cases yes, expect for the fact that they are causing a lot of hurt towards many people.” The smile disappears and he looks towards the plate in front of him “I couldn’t stand back and let these creatures hurt anyone else. Someone had to step in and I came to the decision that I was going to hopefully be me. I thought I would finally get away from fighting others, but it’s crazy how fate always works out huh? How about you? Where do you hail from and what bring you here Misha?”
Misha listens intently enjoying the conversation. When Xienuty follows up with his questions, she responds, “My clan disbanded after the goblins attacked. Split in all directions after many were killed. The last thing I remember the clan leader saying to me was to come here and represent them. You see, I am divinely inspired and gave scholarly advice to the clan leader. It was only natural that he wanted me to come here. Besides, I am one of the few gnomes in my clan that can speak common. I know it sounds sad, but surely there is a reason that this is all happening and I am positive that good will come out of this whole thing.”
Misha pauses thoughtfully, “I met you, Leokoris and Skorli so far. I think that is a good thing.” she beams a smile and looks to Windy. “What about you? I don’t know your name. I am Misha Hairknot. Pleasure to meet you!”
Windy watches the conversation in silence as she eats. She drops a morsel on the floor, picks it up, and shoves it in her mouth
"Old Crone Windy they call me. Troubled are the forest and animals. Rumours told to me by the wind. Something big comes. Bees, it said. Large bees. Swarming. Windy must protect her friends"
She looks to Xienuty and Misha "You protect friends also, yes?"
Yes Windy, I am one of those who protect Freeport City, and everyone in it. And our neighbours, too...If we can expect insects in our near future then I'll think twice asking for horses....
“Oh! Absolutely, I do my best to protect my friends! I can even talk to them. I really enjoy having conversations with the squirrels and woodpeckers. They’re so much fun! Sadly, my squirrel friend, Peony, was killed by those nasty goblins. Sad, really! It breaks my heart to think about it. I thought Peony was going to be safe. You see, she scampered up a lone, dead tree while I was hiding from those goblins when they came into our burrows. But then, those goblins did something so atrocious! They lit that dead tree on fire! Poor Peony! She climbed higher and higher to the tippy top of those dead branches, but the fire was quick as it was a dead and dry tree. The last I saw was poor Peony engulfed by flames.”
Misha lowers her head and becomes tight-lipped recalling the frightful images. She wipes a tear from her eye with the sleeve of her shirt and looks back up to the group and does her best to force a smile. “Peony is in a better place, I know. And there are so many other friends out there to protect.”
She pauses and detracts from herself, “Skorli, remember how you asked if I was going to Scarborough Fair? Well, last night I dreamt of a beautiful song. I thought I heard you talking or dream-singing in your sleep. The music was wonderful though I do not know where it came from. Anyways, I thought about that this morning after waking up.”
Misha smiles at Windy’s insistence of finding a new friend. She looks to find the good in it all and nods aggressively, “Yes. A new friend! There is always something good in everything. I appreciate your willingness to help me find a new friend! Though, I feel that I have lots of good friends here now!”
Windy scratches her head and rolls her eye at Leokoris' question. She scans Leokoris critically with her one visible eye, clears her throat and speaks as if explaining something obvious.
"The wind speaks in metaphores, yes? Goblins work together and in large number are stronger. Goblins are like large bees, you see? Strong you may be but bright you may be not. Windy knows, Windy knows. Much to learn from Windy you have. What can Windy learn from you though, yes?"
She raises an eyebrow in anticipation of Leokoris' answer

As Skorli slumbers and snores, he mutters without waking, "She once were a true love o' mine...."

Windy sits at the table with her food. She eats using her hands and from the plate directly with her mouth. She grunts when greeted by the others.

She looks to Leokoris "You protect who, yes?"
Yes Windy, I am one of those who protect Freeport City, and everyone in it. And our neighbours, too...If we can expect insects in our near future then I'll think twice asking for horses....
She nods in approval at Leokoris wanting to protect others but abruptly spits her food out at the word 'insects'
"Stupid man" she takes her staff and tries to whack Leokoris on the head with it.
"Goblins. Goblins are the large bees"
She rolls her eyes and mutters to herself
“Oh! Absolutely, I do my best to protect my friends! I can even talk to them. I really enjoy having conversations with the squirrels and woodpeckers. They’re so much fun! Wiping off her mouth Leokoris waits out the other woman's outburst, having been on the receiving end of tirades much worse during training.
OK, thank you, Windy, sorry about that.
Looking around the table to make sure everyone is listening as she does so, she inquires Goblins are large bees, got it, what do you call hobgoblins?
(sorry I thought Leokoris was a man! My bad)
Tears roll down Windy's cheeks as Misha recalls her tale. She grabs Misha by the arm with her boney, gnarled hands in an attempt to show sympathy.
"Very sad is that tale, Misha. Windy will help you find a new friend, yes?"
Misha smiles at Windy’s insistence of finding a new friend. She looks to find the good in it all and nods aggressively, “Yes. A new friend! There is always something good in everything.
