Dardek's eyes light up a bit as he looks up at Ashely momentarily before looking back down at his feet..."You...you want to hear about the stories I have read? I have so many....war, famine, love, mystery....so many books in the Keep of Qoneus. I suppose if we travel together, I can tell you some."
Onifax strokes their chin as the two of you talk, mulling over the possibilities.
First, the dragonperson points to Dardek, "No doubt, your unique abilities would prove useful to just about anyone... and, by themselves, could prove a quite lucrative source of income. I could imagine charging... thirty gold easy for a chance to receive your healing services. Minus my professional fee of course. See, I'd be responsible for sourcing your clientele of course, establishing a workspace and managing all of the complicated logistics. For that I'd take a reasonable cut of the revenue while you keep the rest. How does that sound to you?"
Dardek looks up at Onifax with a look of surprise "You, you would pay me? I .....would have something of my own? I could heal people and do good and have my own place to lay my head...." Dardek looks back down realizing he has made continuos eye contact with his superior "I apologize sir for my outburst. Yes thank you for the opportunity"
Ashley considers Dardek's proposal as Onifax starts talking to the man. She puts her warm hand on Dardek's forearm, "Now before you start agreeing to everything, you might want to know some details." She lets go and even though mainly talking to Dardek, she addresses Onifax, "Such as what is the professional fee that he is talking about? The things he is offering to take care of all sound well and good, but negotiations need to be made. Also, what type of people would you be asked to heal? More of the reclaimers or what kind of people are you going to be involved with?" Then she looks to Dardek, "Don't apologize for being surprised, you did nothing wrong." and before he can apologize to her, "And don't apologize to me, I don't want to hear it."
The dragonperson grins slightly in amusement, then looks to Ashely. "You, my young guest, are a trickier riddle to solve. Your skills are useful for destruction, yes... but if you've also got a keen mind, the utility of producing fire is virtually limitless..." Onifax strokes their chin.
"Me, myself? I'm in the business of procuring and reselling rare items... On occasion, I commission individuals to source those items for me. That might involve... inviting oneself into a noble's abode to free them from the burden of excess wealth... or it might involve venturing far from here to delve deep into the ruins of a lost people...
On the other hand, I also have much work to do here in my sanctum if you prefer a more mundane but less treacherous occupation.
So, I'm wondering... Which seems most appealing to you, my fiery friend? A life of intrigue? adventure? or safety and service?"

"Mundane? I want nothing of the sort. I have had the most mundane of a life, and I want so much more." Ashley chuckles, "I like your choice of wording, I bet you lead a most interesting life. Though, why do you spend your time down here, by the sewers? But to answer your question, anything but safety and service."
Dardek surprised "Oh.....truly? Uh ok...well...I don't know anything about jobs or being paid for services or even what I should ask....So I guess, well, you will set up people being healed and I will heal them and then get paid. Where would I do this...down here? I don't want to be sent back to the Clerics....they....well how much will I get after the services are done? Should I find a place to live? I would like to see the world but uh I am not as thrilled as Ashley to get my hands dirty....Should I, if Ashley is doing some harder jobs go and keep her alive....I am good at hiding" He chuckles to himself thinking about the boat escape.
Dardek looks at Ashley confused "I am growing on you? I was unaware I had any fungus or bacterias on my being....Maybe I need a bath" He looks sorrowful for spreading a diesase onto Ashley
Onifax strokes her chin for a moment, giving the matter proper consideration... "It probably would be safer to get you both out of town... and I might know a place where you could find sanctuary if you're willing to work for it... However, I fear the journey might be a bit too perilous for just the two of you..."
Just then, you hear a knock at the chamber door.
"Enter..." Says Onifax, still deep in thought.
The door opens, revealing a small lizard-dog-like humanoid who looks at both Dardek and Ashley with curiosity and a touch of surprise...
"Yes?" Says Onifax, "Out with it..."
The creature breaks out of its fascination and addresses Onifax. "Humanpersonis here with little man and bunnyrabbit. Spike talking to them now make sure they not the badones wanting bossesthings. Humanperson is Alianor. Say she has somethings for you. Other two don't know. Humanperson Alianor say little man and bunny need work. Can we kill?"
Onifax gives the creature a withering look. "No, Mutt, you cannot kill... Gods below, what's the matter with you just attacking without even-- ... Now, you go tell Spike to stop baring his teeth and let the guests through. I want to see what they're all about."
As the creature races off and closes the door, Onifax shakes her head and turns her attention back to Dardek and Ashley.
"Let me ask... How would you feel about an exciting career in treasure hunting?"

I mean yes I want to see the world but I don't have many skills to find treasures...." He looks down at his feet and shuffles nervously in his seat "I have read a lot of books while I was at the keep. It was one of the things I was allowed to do....read....."
She watches as the new scene unfolds, curious about the little lizard-dog like humanoid, but their energy is something she appreciates. A little man and bunnyperson? Could this day get any better? She thinks Onifax means to send them in here.. she sure hopes so, she wants to see a bunnyperson.
She watches Onifaxes mannerisms and the way they carry themselves in the conversation with the little one. She likes what she hears.. so far at least. She really doesn't want to dive from one prison to the next, even if the cage looks different.
"What makes you so sure treasure hunting is exciting? Hiding in shadows, always on the run from the law, breaking into places... ha, man, I can't keep a straight face to save my life. Of course I'm interested. And Dardek is too." Her eyes are a light with all the new possibilities that seem to have been laid before her. And at the last bit, she winks at her new friend.
