A group of adventurers just left from the tavern, and are heading up the nearby hill. Free food and a room entice them on an adventure, to save the local brewery!
You follow the directions you've been given, trudging maybe a mile or two out of town along an old dirt road that winds its way up a low hill. As you near the top a large stone building comes into view, flanked by a couple of barns. By the door is a brightly painted sign that reads "The Wizard's Tower Brewing Co. For the Freshest Pint in the Realm!"
Kathleen would stay closer to the back of the party, armed with her Longbow to provide ranged support. She does however step forward temporarily to check the sigh. She then answer cheerfully, "Right! This is the place! Let's go inside!"
Just beyond the door you see a youngish gnome with a large beard, wearing a white shirt and black pants held up by green suspenders. He glances at you, then confused, asks "Who are you? Are you here for a delivery?" Then he looks at you again, taking in your armor and gear. "Huh, you have the look of adventurers. Did you come for the request for aid I sent out? That's good, I had hoped Whelmen would find some people to send my way. I'll explain why I need aid over a drink, if you are willing." Saying that, he turns to a small bar set up in the corner, and gestures for everyone to have a seat.
"Uhm... okay!" Kathleen says and takes a seat. She explains, "Actually, the barkeep said he was having trouble with beer shipments so he sent us to see if you needed help and what was up." She then pauses and says, "To be honest, I was expecting this place to somehow be crawling with monsters."
Bryn walks over to a stool at the bar, drops his pack and crossbow to the floor next to him, always up for a drink master brewer, and yes, Whelmen said you needed a hand handling a problem but wasn't real specific. He'll have a look around the place, anything out of the ordinary? perception14
Bryn looks around. The building smells like beer and hops, but looks clean and organized. Several humans and halflings, dressed similar to the gnome, wander about, occasionally checking on barrels and vats.
The gnome hands you each a mug of ale, then replies to Kathleen. "I'm Glowkindle, by the way, owner of this fine establishment. The problem's not on this floor. We were doing well, so looking to expand. Well, the first thing we needed to expand was our cellars, can't make beer if you can't store it, you know. So the workers go to expand it, and they find this old wall, probably some ruin or another, right? They knock a hole in the wall, and are attacked by black rats the size of dogs! Big dogs too, not poodles, you know. All the workers escaped, thankfully, and we sealed the cellar, but now we can't get working until the rats are cleared out. No idea where they cam from, but the brewery is named after an old wizards tower that once stood here." He nods his head decisively. "I think you'll do. I need the cellar cleared of rats, both the ones already there and so no more come up in the future. I'll pay you too, 20 gold each. If you come with me, I'll show you to the cellar."
*OOC: If the others don't show up soon, I will create and play enough characters to get us to four, at least for the fights.
Torrel Brightly smiles at Glowkindle while 20 gold seems like a reasonable offer, There is the matter of injury. Say you will pay for healing should it be necessary. ( offers a hand shake ) What say you?
Glowkindle considers, then responds, "Sure, I think we can do that. Won't pay for resurrection though, just healing. That's a little must to ask for for this service."
Kathleen takes a sip of her ale and then says, "A wizard tower huh? Oh maybe you accidentally found some secret wizard lab. Rats should be easy enough to handle. I can snipe them with my bow." As if to make a point she draws her bow back but without an arrow.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Flux, instead of reaching out to grab the ale with his hand, casts Mage Hand, sliding the mug across the table. He then lifts the mug to his mouth (still with Mage Hand), and takes a small sip. "Meh. It's ok. Not the best by a long shot, but it does the job." He then proceeds to down the whole mug. Flux will look around, checking if there are any weapons lying around the bar (maybe decorative but still useful?). Perception 6
Flux doesn't see any weapons, unless he wants to repurpose a long stirring spoon or some kitchen knives. Definitely nothing made to be a weapon.
After your conversation, Glowkindle leads you to a hatch on the floor. "Here's our cellar. Part of out expansions would have made it a proper door, but this is what we have for now. Best of luck. We'll have some healing potions ready when you get back" He opens the hatch and holds it open for you.
Torrel crosses the threshold of the door quickly side stepping toward the left into the darkened cellar ( Mask of the wild ). looking about the shadows for motion.
Bryn will check his weapons, all clear and ready to draw. After loading a bolt in his crossbow he'll follow Torrel through the hatch calling back over his shoulder, Glowkindle, draw me another mug, this shouldn't take long.

welp, this looks like the place

Walking to the stone building door, freshest pint in the realm? Uh, we'll see about that. Opens the door and walks in, 'ello?
Kathleen will follow but will keep some distance from Bryngiel (10ft) with her bow so she can offer ranged support if it is needed.

((OOC my wife might be interested in playing, I can ask her if you'd like))
OOC: I'll give them another day, then if she's interested that would be great!
(OOC sounds good, want us to kind of wait here at the little bar, maybe rp some before we move on with the adventure?))
OOC:Sure, why not.
