Bryn hits rat #3 right in the heart and kills it, then slashes back at rat #4 and widens the wound he gave it earlier, killing it as well.
Torrel inspires himself with a chant, then casts Thunderwave, which booms out in a 15 ft. cube hitting every other player and rat. Rat #2 and #5 save, taking 7 damage. Rat #6 and Rat #8 don't save taking 15 damage. All of the rats fall down dead, and the corpses of rats 6 and 8 go flying. All other players please roll Con saves, succeeding on a 12+.
After recovering from the shock of the Thunderwave, Flux will walk over to the doorway (and pick up the Kitchen Knife he threw) on the other side of the room, and peer into the next room. He will also cast Produce Flame casting the next room in a hue of blue light.
Bryn's words are cut short as the clap of thunder echos through the small chamber, the force of the sound wave hitting him in the back and knocking him to the ground, save 19, taking 7 pts of damage, death save 13.
Flux sees Bryn collapse as he walks past. Flux peers through the hole. Through the hole you can see a dusty stone corridor, its floor about a foot below the floor of the cellar in which you stand. To the left you see the start of a staircase completely buried in collapsed masonry, earth and rubble. To the right the corridor heads around a corner, but on the wall you can barely make out what appears to be writing in clear gold script.
Kathleen was doing okay with the rats but she was not expecting one of her allies to hit her with a powerful spell. She gets slammed against, some barrels taking serious damage but staying awake still. "Watch it!" She shouts. Then notices Bryn go down. She shouts, "Medic! We need a medic!" She will try to grab Bryn and take him back up to the surface to get healed.
Medicine check to try and stabilize if she can't make it in time: 15

Kathleen manages to stabilize Bryn and carry him upstairs. Glowkindle looks at him, runs to another room, and comes back holding a healing potion. He tips it into Bryn's mouth, which heals him for 8. "I heard the fight end, but I didn't think you would be this injured this early. Does any one else need one?" He hands you two more potions.
Instead of her normal cheerful and carefree attitude, she looks quite upset and annoyed. She says, "Someone had the bright idea to cast an Area-of-effect spell in closed quarters. It killed the group of initial rats but it also greatly injured the rest of us." She will drink one of the potions herself and then head down to give Flux the other potion.
Heal: 8 (Herself. She is not going to use the other potion on Flux, just give it to him for him to use whenever he deems appropriate.)
Torrel staggers up the stairs seeking a healing potion himself . he looks toward Bryn and the others seeking aid , " Sorry , but we where not fairing well. And heals where close by. "

Flux will immediately down the healing pot. Healing: 5
He will then open the door, without telling anyone, and will head down the right corridor, but not before glancing at the script, seeing if he can read it.

Kathleen is right there. When she would see Flux trying to open the door she would stop him. "Wait. We should wait for Torrel and Bryn to get back down here. Don't go on ahead by yourself."
"I'd be fine waiting for Bryn, but why should I wait for Torrel? He literally just shocked me." Flux will then proceed to still follow through with his action.
Bryn comes to, setting up and looking around, well, did we get them all? looks at Glowkindle, sorry about the mess, I think you may have lost a couple of barrels of inventory with that. And thanks for the pot. He manages to stand, checks all his limbs and digits, yep all there. Heads back down the hatch, collects his dropped gear. Checking his crossbow, yep still works, he'll load a bolt. Meeting with the others, well, what'd have here?
The writing appears to be shining slightly and says:
"Dawn breaks with stirring air, as sun shines down on a new day fair
Midday blaze bakes earth and grass, the farmer waits for heat to pass.
Evening cool brings water, wine, drink and laughter passing time.
Night sees shining, roaring fire, as wood and coals burn on the pyre"
You glance toward the left, and on the ground you see a 20 ft. mural showing a rural scene including a sun, sky, grass, and river in 4 panels. Two halves of a giant rat seemingly sliced apart by a blade are laying on the river part across the second and third panels.
Kathleen scratches her head. "Is this a puzzle of some kind?" She touches the panels to see if it's movable. "She then admits... I've never been too good with puzzles and riddles but they were always fun. More fun than learning history at least. "

so I'll take 7 damage.
Flux feels the energy shock through him, and through gritted teeth: "Seriously!!, you'll be paying me later for this. Specifically in cash."

OOC: Are we running this campaign on XP or Milestone? If it's XP, how much did we get?

Milestone.
The script is right before the corner, and you can tell it is written in common, but you can't quite make it out at this distance.
Flux will approach the script, reading it.
