Welcome! I'm going to be running a 3rd level homebrew campaign using legacy/2014/5e rules. As the title hints, the goal for the campaign is to find out why the world has been plunged into darkness and bring back the light. I'm looking for 5 players, level 3, using published and homebrew content. For ability scores, you can use standard array, point buy (27 points) or rolling in this thread. (4d6 drop lowest.) The world was plunged into darkness around 75 years ago. The fey wild was NOT effected. If you have a magic weapon/item go ahead, but make sure to mention it when you apply. Just make sure it's either common or uncommon. Multiclassing is welcome. The adventure is currently still a work in progress, so I'll be leaving this thread open for a little while, to get as many applications as possible. I'm doing this so early too make sure I can personalise the story for the characters. This also means that if you have anything you'd like to see if you make it into the campaign, feel free to mention it in your application!
Sorry if this applies to you, but if you are currently in any of my PBPs, you will not be accepted. I'm trying to meet new players with this adventure.
Thayless is an elf who lost his memory and was cursed with lycanthropy he is haunted by his past not knowing who the voices that he hears are or who they were to him he has no choice but to wander the land to try to find out what happened to him and his family and try to appease the voices of his loved ones. I'm not sure if it's good but I like it (:
Twistomer is the Goliath Cleric with a deep booming voice that worships the being simply known as the Great Fish. As a reckless kid who lived on the shore, he went out to sea alone (for reasons he can't remember) on a rowboat and eventually got swallowed by the Great Fish! 3 days later, the Great Fish spat him upon the shore. He saw this as a blessing he had only vaguely heard of before. Then he grew up to become one of the Great Fish's most devout followers! Even becoming the high priest of his local Temple of the Great Fish! Lately, the followers of the Great fish have been acting verry evilly out of hunger and desperation. This 75 year Darkness has really taken its tole, so one night, Twistomer had a dream where the Great Fish blesses him with the holy quest to bring back the light, and that he shall accompany 4 Adventurers on his mission. Now Twistomer was reluctant at first. He didn't want to leave his temple, and he's not the best at working with strangers, but he knows that this is a holy task, and embarks on this quest, where he meets the rest of the party however the DM sees fit.
About the religion of the Great Fish: "The Great Fish" as a physical divine being in the Ocean can be Determined by the DM. If they don't have anything specific in Mind, it will appear similar to a Giant Whale. The Great Fish is the ruler of the ocean and all things water. His Worshippers are often fisherman, for the followers see seafood and other oceanic resources as a blessing from the Great Fish. Their traditional feasts always involve seafood. They hold Biweekly sermons at the temple where they pray, sing, and feast in the name of the Great Fish. It is typical of The Great Fish's Followers to have a fish in their pocket at all times (Replacing it is acceptable, despite the smell of fish being considered a blessing among the followers). Twistomer has a bag strapped to his belt specifically for this fish of his. The purpose of this is that a customary greeting among the followers is to slap people with their fishes. That, to the followers, is a sign of respect. Their funerals/burials consist of them throwing their bodies out to sea for the fish to eat. They believe that when they die, their essence gets absorbed into the ocean as the Fish eat the body, so they'll always be with the Great Fish for the rest of time.
Any questions you have about Twistomer or his religion, feel free to ask.
Lol. Actually. not much. Most of his hometown are familiar with the faith of The Great Fish, so they wouldn't bat an eye. He Hasn't been outside of his hometown that often. He grew up there, and as a high Priest of his local temple, he had to fulfil his duties their often. He also has the insignia of his faith on his armor, so those outside of town familiar with his faith would know that he's just saying hello. Not to mention that as a Goliath, he can be pretty unintentionally intimidating, so there are some who wouldn't fight him anyway. However, it has happened before where a fight broke out, and as much as he tries to explain what he did, it can get pretty messy, lmao.
Backstory: Hildebrass is a human from (city), who grew up fairly poor. His parents had to sell things illegally, and also sometimes steal, just to avoid hunger or thirst. Because of that, he quickly became numb to breaking the law. Trespassing and walking the streets became the same, as did taking berries from a bush and gold from a house.
Hilde was forced into searching for power from otherworldly deities, and found that kind of power in Cyric, a god whom followed his beliefs nearly identically. Through prayer, worship and other divine practices, Hilde drew power and magic from the deity, using it for both good and bad.
But of course, to Hilde, there was only benefit and detriment, an action that benefited him, or that was detrimental to him.
Before you ask, no, this character will not be bad for the party as a follower of Cyric, he mainly worships for power, like people worship Umberlee just to stay safe from her wrath.

Backstories can be as long or short as you'd like, and a double bladed scimitar is perfectly fine, as is the dagger of warning.
what happens if nobody applies for the 5th character?
