There is a low rumbling as Kaala begins to operate the ship. It slowly begins to levitate out of its hold in the dry docks, the dancing light altering to signify the ship is launching. The Maiden Horizon seems to gracefully glide up and away from its hold, successfully soaring into the sky at a decent speed. There is surprising no wind brushing against the crew's faces, as the air in the bubble around the ship is kept from being affected by gentle breezes.
Heading higher and higher into the sky, the ship begins to crest above the nighttime clouds, looking over the side of the ship the crew can see the base shrinking from view on the open fields. Off to one side the forests seem to just be small dark green specks, almost like looking at a map. The view is then obscured by the clouds, the crew feeling the dampness as their clothes are lightly soiled whilst they float ever higher. Breaking the cloud bank, the sight changes to that of a beautiful night sky. The stars are glistening high above, but are now within reach thanks to the successful launch of The Maiden Horizon.
The rest of the crew stand awestruck as the ship glides higher and higher into the air. Outside of the bubble, the air must be getting thinner, and the ship seems to accelerate a little as the horizon shrinks away. It is not long before the entire planet of Evadil can be seen, a beautiful marble in the sky with a mixture of blue, green, yellows, and browns. The sun can be seen glistening from behind, giving a glimmer of light on the edge of the planet.
However, the crew cannot just look back all their life; they have some potential destinations. As they soar into the wilds of space, they can see the single moon of Evadil hovering in space near their home planet. Heading away from the sun, there are two known other planets ahead, a smaller greyish planet that Astrologers have called Sembil, and a planet mostly covered in water named Alahilo.
(Welcome to space, ladies and gentlemen! The Spelljamming Ship is now fully operational, as you soar through space on a galleon! I've given a couple of destinations for you to head to first if you'd prefer to head to a nearby planet first. If not, you can always venture further into space.)
Thelara gathers her officers near the helm, so Kaala can paticipate in a brief council. "So where do we want to go first? My first idea is to see if we can land on the moon, as it is close by, and will let us sort of check out that everythjing is in working order without getting too far away."

While the officers are discussing their first destination, one of the crew passes Elirdain an inventory of the stores. (In the spoiler below. There are supplies for other groups, so doesn't need to be private)
GENERAL SUPPLIES
Money: 10,000 gp Food: 50 packets (1 "packet" equates to a week's food for the entire crew) Water: 200 gallons (crew has two members who can cast create or destroy water to keep levels constant. Mainly noted as max amount available at one time) Ale: 30 barrels Wine: 20 bottles
MEDICAL SUPPLIES
Medical Kits: 100 uses Surgical Tools: 5 sets Potion of Healings: 20
Elirdain does a quick skim of the inventory as he makes his report to their captain.
"More or less, we have at least a week's worth of water in case we can't refill them. For rations, there's plenty enough for a month. For weapons and tools, it seems we have the basics but it would be better if we have more variety.
What concerns me is the meager amount of timber used to repair the ship. We also don't have any vials of antitoxins and steel so those are on top of the list we need to get.
It would be helpful if we have someone who has skills in smithing and glassmaking. That way, they could help creating certain containers for our supplies."
(Just to clarify, the numbers for Timber, food Packets, etc. are collective amounts to make things easier. The "Spare Timber" will have one use per major repair, so you can repair 10 major breaks. Same with the food, you have 100 packets, so that'll do 100 weeks for the entire crew.)
(I misread and thought it was worth one day of food for the whole crew. The word 'packet' made me think of small quantities.)
"Sorry, I misspoke. We have plenty enough of food to last for more than a year. But who wants to eat the same food everyday for a year? Not me. I'll have to prepare something new every end of the week, specially during the festival days."

Vyserra scanned her crewmates with a toothy grin on her face, hands on her hips, beaming with pride and excitement. The take off went very smoothly and now came the conversation of where they were going to head to first. The grin dropped on her face, her eyebrows furrowing in thought thinking of which planet or moon would be the most resourceful to the ship and crew.
"Hrm... Alahilo is mostly made up of water, so there are possibilities of life there, and we got some fishing lines, don't we? It's a possibility of food, not to mention new species of fish and maybe even flora and fauna if there's some little specks of land." She scratches her chin with one finger. "Sembil looks mostly made of rock, so there's probably some kind of caves, precious resources that could benefit the ship, maybe? Gems too, if anything."
As she finishes her tiny observation speech, she looks to Thelara and Kaala, another grin creeping up on her lips. "I have faith our captain and pilot will choose a promising planet to go to first."

With that, the ship's course is set to head towards the world of Alahilo. The journey will take a day or two to get there, allowing for the crew to get acquainted to The Maiden Horizon more. Information in the spoiler.
The Maiden Horizon, while the engineering magnificence of the combined efforts of Evadil, is still fairly sparce in terms of luxuries and capabilities. Beyond its ability of spelljamming, it is effectively a traditional galleon. It can land on water, meaning it can easily dock as if it were a traditional ship. Upon the top deck there are two Medium Ballistae that can be used as weaponry for ship combat.
Ship Combat
To ease some of the ship combat, lesser crewmen will be commanded by their officers (as in, the player will be able to say what their deckhand is doing, so long as it isn't obviously self-harming etc.). The weaponry on the ship, such as the ballistae, will require a number of actions to be used in order to fire. This represents loading, aiming, etc.
The Medium Ballistae costs 2 crew actions to use. This means that two actions must be used in order to fire it. A weapon can only be acted with up to its Crew Action value. Therefore, if two crew are constantly on the ballistae, it can be fired every round. If the ballista is fired, it has set stats of +6 attack bonus, and 3d10 piercing damage.
The party is awakened as one of the relief pilots calls they are about to make orbit around Alahilo.
Chapter 1: Aloha, Alahilo
Date: 3rd day of Spring, Year 1
Ahead of The Maiden Horizon, the watery sphere of Alahilo is coming ever closer. The spelljamming ship decelerates as it gets close to the atmosphere of the water-covered planet. Seeing it up close, the group can see there are contours of the body of Alahilo, submerged beneath the enormous ocean that covers its surface. There are actually a few small points that rise over to make islands which were previously unviewable from such a long distance away. The current pilot asks where to land, since he still has some time at the helm before passing on the shift back to the officers.
Note: If you begin to sail the galleon, rather than use the spelljamming helm, then it will function as a standard seaworthy vehicle.
Elirdain leans over the Maiden's Horizon to check to large expanse of water below before he gives his suggestion.
"Captain Thelara, how about we take this ship a good spin around this water-filled planet and create a map out of it before we dock on any of its islands? It might have some uses for us in the future."
Just as the quartermaster did, Vyserra mimicked his movement in leaning over to view the vast oceans below with her signature smile on her face. In the few days they have been on the ship, most, if not everyone, knew that she was all smiles and laughs, never once seeing a frown prominent on her face.
"I agree with this guy!" She says excitedly and with no knowledge of personal space she grabbed Elirdain by the shoulder to pull him into a side hug. "Let's see how this thing is on the water, eh?"
