Walls, trees, creatures, and other obstacles can provide cover during combat, making a target more difficult to harm. A target can benefit from cover only when an attack or other effect originates on the opposite side of the cover. There are three degrees of cover. If a target is behind multiple sources of cover, only the most protective degree of cover applies; the degrees aren't added together. For example, if a target is behind a creature that gives half cover and a tree trunk that gives three-quarters cover, the target has three-quarters cover. A target with half cover has a +2 bonus to AC and Dexterity saving throws. A target has half cover if an obstacle blocks at least half of its body. The obstacle might be a low wall, a large piece of furniture, a narrow tree trunk, or a creature, whether that creature is an enemy or a friend. A target with three-quarterscover has a +5 bonus to AC and Dexterity saving throws. A target has three-quarters cover if about three-quarters of it is covered by an obstacle. The obstacle might be a portcullis, an arrow slit, or a thick tree trunk. A target with total cover can't be targeted directly by an attack or a spell, although some spells can reach such a target by including it in an area of effect. A target has total cover if it is completely concealed by an obstacle.)
(Forget what I said about disadvantage and advantage about trees....)

"Ah! Bary! BARY! PUT ME DOWN!" cries the halfling, nearly toppled from his perch by the barbarians powerful throw.

He topples to the ground, falling over Baredark's back and using his movement to stand. Taking out his sling, he loads the weapon with a small rock about the size of his fist, and begins to whirl. "Stay." the sling spins faster. "Right." The rock levels out, becoming a ring of blurred leather and stone. "THERE!"
The rock flies out at an astonishing speed! His aim is for the same gnoll Baredark's javelin struck.
Attack: 21

The stone whizzes harmlessly above the gnolls head, dislodging a bird's nest a few trees over.

Nirev, being caught in surprise, was slow to react, but now he focuses up and tries to help. After consideration he decides to cast Sleep where he reaches the maximum number of gnolls.
(I'm having a hard time keeping track of the battlefield, so I'm not sure how to target this. I'll target the gnoll with the most HPs. There is no save for this spell)
This spell sends creatures into a magical slumber. Roll 5d8; the total is how many hit points of creatures this spell can affect. Creatures within 20 feet of a point you choose within range are affected in ascending order of their current hit points (ignoring unconscious creatures).
Starting with the creature that has the lowest current hit points, each creature affected by this spell falls unconscious until the spell ends, the sleeper takes damage, or someone uses an action to shake or slap the sleeper awake. Subtract each creature's hit points from the total before moving on to the creature with the next lowest hit points. A creature's hit points must be equal to or less than the remaining total for that creature to be affected.
Undead and creatures immune to being charmed aren't affected by this spell.)

Do the trees provide full or partial cover?
