[This is an attempt to salvage some broken promises. It will only open up to new players if I don't reach 4 players.]
For long ages the Elves of Celador defended their domain vigorously. While many races lived under the supremacy of the elves, the incursion from the outside was violently discouraged. The 200 years ago, unbidde, the Elves retracted their defenses, and allowed settlements at the edge of the woods. while their core territories are still guarded, many new cultures have expanded into the area.
Our campaign will begin in Daven's Falls, a logging, hunting and portaging community at the base of a moderate waterfall. It lies not too far from the edge of the forest, but is certainly far enough in that the elves of old would not let it exist. You have been called to the Sinking Castle tavern to meet with Undermayor Harbin, who you've heard might have need of your skills.
Please propose a 1st level character. I'm looking for 6 players. The world is being created, so I'm not restricting much. No Bloodhunters or guns. Choose Point buy or roll here for stats, if you choose to roll and don't like your stats you can take standard array. Starting equipment or gold, your choice. Tasha's origin rules, okay, alternate class features on a case by case basis.
I'll want to discuss and tweak the character to get a cohesive party.
I'm gonna try using the shared dice logging system for rolls, except for ability scores, those are rolled here.

Name: Lia
Race: Half-elf
Class: Monk
Ability scores: 129816811 Yeah, think I'll go with standard array
Backstory:
Born after a one night stand between an elven politician and a human diplomat, Lia was an embarrassment to both sides of her family. Neither parent wanted her, but they couldn't agree on where to send her, so for the first eight years of her life she bounced between their homes, never feeling truly welcome. Eventually, it was decided that she would go to the Radiant Hand monastery, which was known to take in and raise children.
From that point forward, she lived with a dozen other kids and twice that many monks. She was far from the star student in her history and writing classes, but she excelled in martial arts training. Upon coming of age, many of her peers left to pursue their own careers, but Lia chose to stay on and become a full-fledged member of the order. It was then that she learned about a lesser-known aspect of the Radiant Hand - that they were often contracted as mercenaries and bodyguards by the government and military. She received specialized training for another year, shadowing others on their missions. A few times, she had to travel into the capital, and narrowly avoided contact with her mother.
Finally, she was assigned her first job on her own, and traveled into the town of Daven's Falls...
When you’ve got scores to be good at anything, it makes sense to go bard. I don’t want this to be a case of overshadowing anyone, though, I want him to be more of a catchall for anything we’re missing.
Dumasz is a Knight errant of sorts. He holds title, but no lands. It has given access to match ambition, even though he holds no particular lordly authority. Dumasz is in Daven’s Fall exploring the borderlands of Celador. He hopes that he might be in the right place at the right time to make a name for himself.
Probably going with the same basic idea, but I will never pass up a chance for better stats than the sad ones I got the first time around...
Ability scores: 151311141116
Name: Noell Icethorne
Race: Human (standard)
Class: Fighter
Backstory:
Noell is a local girl from Daven's Falls. Her father was a logger and her mother a hunter; she grew up following in her mother's footsteps. Her solid performance as a hunter and good reputation within the town has led to her being recruited into the pack of adventurers being asked to meet with Undermayor Harbin. Noell is both boastful and tough, but also kind-hearted and utterly dedicated to the protection of her hometown. With her skills and her wanderlust, said hometown is growing a bit too restrictive for her tastes, and performing well in this duty the mayor might have offers her both a chance to serve the community, and find an opportunity to break free of her mundane duties and try her hand at an adventurer's life.
Well the dice rolls weren't manipulated until I copied and pasted my old application, but you know what? I am so fed up with this forum dice roller I can't be arsed to do anything about it. The rolls are what they are, you can skip my app if you like because I'm too annoyed to bother rerolling.
Yeah, sorry for being terse. I hate the forum dice roller, almost all of my 2000+ posts are in PBPs and I have seen it mess up more times than I care to remember, giving out the manipulated message when there are none, changing dice rolls on a page refresh, multiple snake eyes and 20's in a row more than statistically feasible, all sorts of madness. Few people ever take it seriously when I complain on the tech part of the forums about it, either, they just use the dice roller 3 or 4 times and go "hey looks like it works, stop complaining." Personally, I am going to be very happy if there is finally a campaign using the game log instead of this damned forum dice roller to track rolls!
Ill probably go with the same Character as before:
Name: Hayeth Vicnis
Race: Changeling
Class: Wizard (probably order of scribes)
Backstory:
Hayeth is a lithe and spry young changeling, with stark white hair, pale grey skin and white eyes in her normal form, she is shy when in her in this form due to being raised as a hermit on the edge of the elven forest by the old human who taught her magic but is unusually confident when using the form of others. She is feircely intelligent and tries to talk her way out of a situation before fighting but is no stranger to having to bring her magic to bare on someone who pushes her wrong... or perhaps just gets a little too close.
While travelling around the world offering her services as a Private Investigator, Sage or Herbalist under the guise of a middle aged human woman, she was approached by a messenger delivering a message to ask her to come to the Sinking Castle Tavern, she agreed although mostly out of curiosity en route she encountered a raven and bonded to it with magic (her familiar) and naming her 'Fay'.
I literally have no idea what’s happened there but I’m resubmitting the old app. I had some good backstory with Noell and looking forward to fleshing everything out once we confirm
Okay, we have 5 so it's definitely a go without re-recruiting. I'll give it till 2/15/21 8:00am EST for more responses then make a decision and try to start quickly.

Which parent was of which race? I'm feeling that the Elven parent was of the High Elves, who dominate the life of the few cities of Celador. (Although the actual royal family are wood elves.) The human parent would be of the more cosmopolitan human nations near the sea. Would setting the Monastery in the mountains of one of these nations be cool? Feel like naming the mountain range or nation, or suggesting any flavor for either.
nschrock:
Most dragonborn hail from a far off nation of islands, ruled by benevolent(ish) dragon overlords. There are also clusters in many coastal cities, mostly refugees from the fairly controlling dragons. Feel like fleshing out where you come from? Just a little detail, Dumasz might be kind of bored. He was asked to join this mission by Undermayor Harbin as he was passing through the town. This was a fortnight ago, just after he sent his other summonses, and you have been waiting around ever since.

Not as many questions, your backstory kind of fits right in like butter. I will note that the town is abuzz about the dragonborn who has been staying for a while.

Do you want Hayeth originally from the rough vicinity of Daven's Falls or farther away? It might make sense that you were known to the town if you came from near there originally, and might be why you specifically were recruited.

200 years ago, Vahorns Family were proud nobles, who owned much of the land that is now tainted by logging camps and the like. As the rest of the elves retreated, the Yaeldrim pride was too strong and they remained for the following centuries living in the wilderness. As other races moved in, their numbers and power have dwindled and they have resorted to becoming tour guides in the woods, encouraging visitors to be mindful of nature.
Vahorn is a young Elf, 25 years of age. He has never seen the great kingdom of Celador, but he loves the woods and will do anything to protect them. He has been guiding hunting parties from Davens falls, under the provision that they keep the balance. But with his people on the edge of extinction, he is frustrated.
Vahorn is visibly uncomfortable with social interaction, much happier to be in the presence of animals.
(Vahorn’s family knows Noell’s. As children, they had trained and hunted together. There’s a little competetiveness there, and though Vahorn respects her skills, feels his family are superior.)
Hayeth was a hermit at first but she travelled around and made a name for herself, but being nearby does make sense, so if there are any smaller forests than the main one nearby it would make sense she was raised there and ventured out when she was ready and started making her name under her disguise

Lia's mother is a high elf and her father is a human. Putting the monastery in a human nation works for me! I'm completely blanking on names right now, but I have some ideas for flavor. The mountains are mostly rocky with scattered areas of forest. The monastery itself is somewhere in the middle elevation-wise - it sees some snow in the winter, but dries up by the summer. The path up to it can be dangerous if you don't have an experienced guide with you, which discourages unwelcome visitors. The buildings of the monastery appear small and unimpressive at first, but there is actually a much larger compound carved into the mountainside itself.
