Welcome to the Support Thread for The Pugilist Class!
If you find any issues with the content from the sourcebook, or using it on a D&D Beyond character, please search the thread (Search form) before posting in this thread.
RELEASE NOTES
The Pugilist Class allows players to create a character that lives a rough and tumble life that leaves them full of determination and recklessness, either from overconfidence or desperation. In a fight, Pugilists channel this strength of character to dig deep and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, even when outarmed and outnumbered. Even when they ultimately fail, Pugilists go down swinging!
We identified and resolved an issue where The Pugilist Class was not available to download on iOS mobile devices. The class is now available across all devices.
Syncing Entitlements
If you don’t see any of the content from the source, please be sure to resync your entitlements. You can do so by following these steps:
Once completed, your content should appear! If you experience any issues accessing your content please contact our Support Team.
ENABLING CONTENT FOR YOUR CHARACTER
To use content from The Pugilist Class in the character builder, you will need to set the character preferences to include Sterling Vermin source category (see the .gif below).
NEW ROUGH-AND-TUMBLE SUBCLASSES
This book features six new moxie-fueled subclasses that are compatible with 2024 characters. These subclasses are mostly supported with the following exceptions:
Dog and Hound: Brawler's Best Friend The Hound stat block is contained within the character and not a separate monster stat-block. Both Hit Points and Actions of the Hound can be found within the "Actions" and "Features & Traits" tabs of your character sheet.
NEW WEAPONS
The book features three new weapons and can be filtered in listings with the "Improvised Weapons" tag.
NEW MAGIC ITEMS
This class features 23 new magic items. These items are mostly supported with the following exception:
Actions on Magic Items. Some of the new magic items grant specific actions as part of their magic. D&D Beyond doesn’t currently support the ability to attach actions directly to magic items; we have included charges and associated spells where appropriate, but in the case that an item’s functionality is otherwise text-only, we recommend creating Custom Actions on the character sheet to represent those items.
NEW ALLIES OR ENEMIES
The book features 4 new stat blocks for brawlers that can aid a Pugilist or challenge them. These new NPCs are fully supported.
AVRAE
At the time of release this book is not supported through the discord bot, Avrae.
Just got the Pugilist. My account entitlements are in sync, I can see and read through the book on both my browser and in the phone app. I have all partnered content enabled, including Sterling Vermin. I cannot see the Pugilist class in the character builder.

I'm in the same boat. I see the content in my license list, it doesn't allow me to sync because it says it is,and I have all partner content enabled on character creation.
Thank you for notifying us on the issues regarding accessing the Pugilist from the character sheet. We have identified and resolved the bug and the fix should be rolling out shortly.
Update: I can now see and add the Pugilist class in the character builder!
Some new bugs:
The three new weapons, the Brass Knuckles, Hand Claws, and Punch Knife, when equipped by a Pugilist, do not have their damage die changed to the Pugilist's Unarmed Strike damage.
The class description says Pugilists have proficiency with simple melee weapons and improvised weapons. In the character builder I only have proficiency with Brass Knuckles.

I second this, the Pugilist weapons are not correctly applied to all simple and improvised weapons same goes for the Profiencies. You only get to choose one profiency in the Builder atm
Yo, bought the book. Was looking through the Magic Items from the book in magic item section of DNDBeyond, when I go to look at "Club of Unconsciousness" it tells me I need to buy the book from Marketplace. BUT all the other items let me view them properly.

"Not getting cut into bloody littles slices, That's the key to a sound plan."
I may be wrong but I believe the Haymaker class ability is missing text. There is absolutely no drawback and in the dmsguild version the attack was made at disadvantage. I understand this is a revamp for 2024 but there is literally no consequence to using Haymaker so by level 5 your attacks just deal make damage for essentially no cost.
Public Mod Note
(spamandtuna):
Please discuss any rules questions with the publisher.
You can't select the new weapons from this book for masteries, so it's currently impossible to use the mastery properties of items like the brass knuckles.
In addition, this feature: Stop and Drop. When you hit a creature with an Unarmed Strike and don’t use a mastery property as part of the attack, you can use both the Grapple and Shove option.
Unarmed strikes don't have mastery properties, so you can't ever use one as part of an attack, so this feature always triggers? Or is this feature:
Improved Improvisation. Your talent for turning everything into a weapon allows you to use the mastery properties of improvised weapons. All improvised weapons count as having the Sap mastery property for you.
also supposed to grant the Sap mastery property to Unarmed Strikes and allow you to use them?

Can confirm this one.

DM, player & homebrewer(Current homebrew project is an unofficial conversion of SBURB/SGRUB from Homestuck into DND 5e)
Once made Maxwell's Silver Hammer come down upon Strahd's head to make sure he was dead.
Always study & sharpen philosophical razors. They save a lot of trouble.

I understand this is a revamp for 2024 but there is literally no consequence to using Haymaker so by level 5 your attacks just deal make damage for essentially no cost.
The consequence would be if your attack doesn't hit, then you lose the 1 Moxie Point you spent when you first made your attack roll.
Also, the Lucha Libre being cut is likely for the same reason I suspect the Pistolero, Gun-Ko Master, Gun Tank & Musketeer were cut from the Gunslinger. PR risks.
Stereotypes aren't seen as good for a company whose stock price wobbled as a result of well-worded accusations.
UPDATE:The dev confirmed that this is NOT the case for Pugilist's missing 2 subclasses(Whiskey Fist being the other one):They simply needed more work & will return.
Weapon proficiencies for the Pugilist look correct now! Damage dice change for Pugilist weapons is still not changing damage dice to match Unarmed Strike damage. e.g. Hand Claws and Clubs still do d4 base damage.
More bugs:
The Level 3 Muscle Mass subclass feature for the Squared Circle subclass does not actually let you pick either skill to gain Proficiency/Expertise in.
Does Dex add to the AC of the Iron Chin feature? Its doesnt reflect it on the character sheet.
By the way it's phrased, it doesn't appear to. It seems to be a direct calculation replacement that only adds your Con. (That said, I don't think any other AC calculation replacement also works if you're wearing armor, so I'm a little confused on that one to begin with.)
The way Iron Chin feature was advertised vs how it functions is rather strange tbh. The advertisment makes it sound like it should function with Light Armor:
"Iron Chin modifies the way a Pugilist determines Armor Class. While wearing Light Armor or no armor, a Pugilist can add their Constitution modifier in place of their Dexterity modifier. Pugilists don’t dodge hits; they roll with the punches."
The book has:
"While you are wearing Light or no armor and not wielding a Shield, your base Armor Class equals 12 plus your Constitution modifier."
Which yes... in a sense it does function with Light armor, but it can't benefit at all from magic armor it seems? Your essentially just not wearing it at all. Due to how its worded im unsure if its a bug or intentional for the actual class ability. As the Base AC is meant to be 12 with Light Armor.
Bassically a 15 AC, studded leather +3, does not give 20 AC. Unsure if its a bug or intentional wording design

Items aren't showing up yet to add to characters. Was specifically looking at the Spiked Collar and Studded Collar.

can corroborate, nothing is in the character builder from this book

On his AMA he said that the disadvantage was removed for 2024
