Overview: I have had this character a while and in the last campaign set in 5e I got married to a Drow and had some children becoming a noble Menzoberranzan. Prior I played through a 3.5e campaign using Pathfinder Rules for the Alchemist class but it was set in Faerun and between the 5e and 3.5e games I was in a 2e AD&D group that played through the Maztica campaign. Hands down this is my guy and I love him. He's been around a while and I am happy that 2024 is going to have an update for the Artificer so I can play through the next chapter of his life - the divorce. This is their backstory for when the class is updated.

“I did not come here to burn down the Wild Elves Forest Balduran. You and this fort be damned!”
***Yesterday***
It had been five years since he last saw her. His wife T’zarah of house Vahadarr whom he helped ascend to become the eighth house of the ruling council by completely eradicating the House of Melarn and all their descendants as House Baenre had done centuries prior to their own competition. Of course, having ascended these houses would always claim to be one of the founders of Menzoberranzan and history changed. It was no different with his wife and her house and it was always something that irked him, but it kept him alive as a human in this the city of the Drow. He had come a long way to be back here, but he had business to attend and so the twenty-one-year-old alchemist sailed across the ocean from Maztica then hired a litter to take him down through the Underdark. Stopping at the gates to the city the drow guards attempted to hassle him at first suspecting him of lying due to appearing as a young twenty-on year-old. Heydan could not begrudge them of their investigation as the last time he was here he was thirty-six years old. His wife had been summoned to confirm his identity only after he bribed the guard, and she of course took her time to send someone to fetch him.
She now knew he was here but he had already planned that so he was not at all surprised when the house guard led him up into the throne room of the spire, he helped fortify with all the pomp she could afford him. It was nothing more than a trick to entice him and upon seeing it all he could think about was the last time he was here. She had finally schemed her way into control of their marriage which was not good for the Human who married a Drow. He may have saved her life twice, her brothers once, and was the cause of their house’s ascension to the nobility from the riffraff of Menzoberranzan but she was still a Drow. A fact he would never let himself forget.

“They, they killed them all. Balduran.. All of them. Am... Am I really the last Faerunian alive here?”
***Five Years Ago***
“I have had it up to here with you! You took the waste from our potions and reprocessed it into an addictive recreational substance addling millions! Now the Emerald Enclave has it our for our franchises on the surface and how do you think House Baenre is going to respond when they show up down here?”, Heydan could remember himself yelling so enraged at the situation she caused.
“I am not the one who decided to build a secret lab in my city to test all those potions on monsters.”, she always placed the blame on him.
His anger at his wife had not at all lessened, “That is unfair, and you know it! Several of those monsters are no longer blood thirsty uncontrollable beasts without a purpose.”
“And what use is a baby red dragon pumped full of psychedelics my dear?”, she shot back, and it was true he had stolen, incubated, and successfully hatched a red dragon egg then put it on a psychotropic drug regiment resulting in it becoming less violent as it aged.
“Pff, it isn’t eating anyone in Menzoberranzan. I would call that experiment a success!”, Heydan had responded as the twelve-year-old red dragon cheerfully prodded around the chamber chasing imaginary colors. Then coming back to the point at hand Heydan added, “You know what I am done. You can have it. Deal with other Houses and the Emerald Enclave yourself!”, and quaffed an elixir of youth de-aging himself until he was a mere sixteen years old.
With a look of amazement mixed with desire T’zarah asked, “So that was your trick. I always knew there was something about you Heydan. How else would you have the memory of an elf.”, but she only knew so much having only uncovered records of his residence in New Waterdeep from nearly a half-century ago.
Tossing the empty vial at her for her to catch Heydan had nonchalantly bit back at her, “Yeah, that’s right I made a potion. You’ll never figure it out even with the residue off that vial. The ingredients aren’t found in Faerun and no one in this city has nearly enough the skill to make it even if they had the instructions.”, which was very true as the components could only be found in Maztica and the elixir itself was very difficult to make. Unlike potions of longevity which could backfire rapidly aging someone his own personal version was twice as potent and had no chance of increasing someone’s age; however, they did come with the extreme draw back that his higher functioning memories would soon start to fade requiring him to relearn much of his skill set as he grew back up. It was a tradeoff but one he preferred as the production cost of his variant was also much less.
Chiding him with her eyes she spat back at him, “I see you’re now the age that you act like.”
“I’m taking the kids.”, Heydan had replied turning his back to her.
“You most certainly will not.”, her words had seared into his back as he paced towards the door. She was right. He was sixteen now. There was no way a sixteen-year-old human boy was going to make it out of Menzoberranzan with an eight and a four-year-old. Much less up through the Underdark and back to Maztica.
“ARG!”, he raged and stormed out as her cackling haunted him through the halls.
“I’ll see you once you’ve grown up and come to your senses dear.”, was the last thing she had said, and he hated to admit she was right.
***1385 DR***
“Savras was false, Helm was false, they are all false. These Wild Elves, the Payit, and all their deities too! False! Ao has taken this land to another world. I will never see the soil of my birth again.”
***Yesterday***
He had now grown up and come to his senses that it was fool hearted to believe he could change her nature. Despite the hostility he had thought that she had loved him and him her, which is why they never divorced. That was until he discovered that she had assumed his identity to operate on the surface creating a shipping company to enslave gullibly people in every port city on a plantation in Maztica. True the enterprise had done quite well but she made him into a slaver by paying some human actor to portray him in public and hijacking his identity. This he could have possibly excused as she had apparently never taken back up a harem and left him a bitter love letter in the colony. However, in that letter where she admitted against her best judgement to missing him, she had also informed him that she sold their children at the slave market in Menzoberranzan. They were only ‘half’ Drow, she explained as if it mattered and that they would never be afforded the same opportunities real Drow would in life. That it was for the best and maybe he could return so they would have more children to replace the ones she sold. This she said would be best for him. She could make him happy again. It had the opposite effect and with that as his power he now faced down his most vile enemy now five years later.
From behind her he could see the red dragon he raised, still a child, but on a way higher dosage than his regiment called for. “Oh, look at what you did to Herby.”
“He’s better this way.”, T’zarah said to him as the Dragon glared with a menacingly robotic stare at Heydan, “Easier to control.”
Rolling his eyes, “At the cost of his free will. If you ever take it off the...”
“Then it will die from the withdrawal symptoms. I read your notes.”, she knowing said.
“Only after it goes mad and kills someone before its heart explodes.”, Heydan rationalized.
She just rolled her eyes back at him and said, “So you came back just to lecture me on how to handle my dragon?”
“No, and it isn’t your dragon.”, Heydan started to explain, “I am surprised the other Houses have let you keep it.”
“And why shouldn’t they. Menzoberranzan now has our very own dragon like those ugly dwarves.”, she said cutting him off.
Sighing out Heydan just retorted, “Whatever, I don’t care. The other houses will consume yours once you’ve lived out your usefulness. I just came for the kids.”
“I sold them.”, she said flatly.
“Your letter indicated as much.”, Heydan responded and then asked, “Well, who did you sell them to?”
“Rythel.”, she uttered.
Instantly Heydan’s shoulders slumped, “They’re probably on the other side of the Raurin Desert by now!”
Her eyebrows raised showing signs of joy, “Or by Lloth’s grace on Oerth.”
“Don’t even joke about it. I don’t want to have to cross the Astral Sea or go Planar hopping to get my kids back!”, Heydan was starting to get angry. She always knew how to push his buttons, but this was too far.
“You do mean our children do you not, husband?”, she mused.
“Enough. Write Rythel and get them back. I want a divorce.”, Heydan demanded.
She shook her head, “No, I do not think I will, and I do not think we will be getting divorced. Baby you’re just too valuable to my operations on the surface as my husband than as my ex-husband. No one of any importance in the major cities would knowingly do business with us Drow after all.”, and he eyes went ice cold as she added, “Isn’t that the excuse you fed me? Isn’t that why you wanted nobility?”
“I never asked to be a noble. That was your dream not mine.”, Heydan was already aware that this was becoming a very dangerous situation. She was like a spider. Lulling him into a trap having pulled so many strings and now she was getting ready to contain him. He had come prepared for this.
“And now I must protect that dream. Herby, go fetch.“ she commanded the beast pointing at Heydan as she stressed the word ‘fetch’.
Even though it was a child the red dragon he had hatched was a challenge. Especially now that he was much weaker than he was when he hatched it. He had come prepared though and immediately turned running from the dais in the throne room out on to the balcony that wrapped the spire of what was now House Vahadarr attached to the ceiling of Menzoberranzan. A small blast of fire fanned out the balcony doorway as Heydan leapt over the side plummeting towards the ground below. Within seconds a vial was in his hand, and he was gulping back a potion of feather fall to slow his descent into the city below as Herby took to the skies within the cavern searching for him. There was no hope for the young dragon. The increased dosage made searching for him harder and so the young alchemist downed the last potion he had brought with him from Maztica granting himself greater invisibility and snuck to the surface. He did not care about his wife or what she had done to his name. He could handle that later as she had kept all of her corruption well hidden from the forces of good. So well hidden that he was sure even House Baenre and the others in Menzoberranzan weren’t even aware of everything she was up to. He could use that against her if need be but first he would need to find his children.
***1486 DR***
“Ao brought us back! This land I have come to inherit is my own now. It is my home, but I will return to Faerun for a time. See what has changed! Yes, I’ll establish a little apothecary and sell potions! Yes, and maybe I’ll meet someone and get married. I’ve been alive now longer than some of the Wild Elves in the north. It is about time I started a family.”
***Today**
With this goal legendary alchemist Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr from Menzoberranzan once again set off for adventure seeking a party to help and who could help him.
House Vahadarr, only very recently within the last decade became the eighth house of the ruling council within Menzoberranzan thanks to the brutally efficient efforts of T'zarah Vahadarr's husband who happens to be the very talented human alchemist Lord Heydan Seegil. Since coming into power, the house has become renown throughout all the cities of the Drow for their elixirs, poisons, and potions many of which are crafted from rare components only available on the continent of Maztica. Over the past decade as a service to the city of Menzoberranzan House Vahadarr has actively pushed highly addictive substances on many surface dwellers, sometimes even passing these substances off as common useful potions such as healing potions. An unknown scourge through-out many urban and port cities the house has created several shell companies to recruit those gullible or desperate enough to travel to their secretly operated plantations on the continent of Maztica where they source many of their ingredients. These victims are then deprived of their memories and enslaved by the Drow as drones without any knowledge of their lives back on the continent Faerun.
Menzoberranzan, also known as the City of Spiders, is a large Drow city-state located in the Upper North Underdark. Possibly the most well-known of all the Drow cities this subterranean metropolitan city is ruled by eight houses of Drow each dominated by a single female matron. Only within the last decade did house Vahadarr come to power by extinguishing and erasing from the history of the Drow the house they replaced. Although courtship with any non-pure-blooded Drow would typically be immensely unbecoming distinguishing someone as a social exile among the Drow the Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr was able to prove himself invaluable to the city as an commodity. Despite this he has almost always been treated by other Drow as Lady T'zarah of House Vahadarr's beloved pet who view her as an eccentric for indulging this odd fashion accessory and have even gone so far as to forgive her for dismissing her harem of other men. Even if the city went to war to find him, they would most likely want to keep him to make a mockery of as a mascot. Yes, Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr is a noble of Menzoberranzan; and yes, he is allowed to join the other ruling Houses at social functions along with sit beside Lady T'zarah of House Vahadarr during discussions pertaining to city affairs but only is he's a good boy.
Big Pharma, allegedly and more than likely the largest alchemical manufacturer and supplier in the Realms. They provide financing solutions for store front opportunities as well as certification courses for novice Alchemist seeking to operate their own location. These employees are then encouraged to collect a membership fee and recruit others to work for them as agents following Big Pharma's 'Funnel' approach. Once they recruit enough agents, they purchase a certification from the company to become a regional supplier and certify others as Alchemist allowing them to collect a certification fee themselves as well as a bonus on loans to start a new franchise closed. However, Big Pharma is much more as they also are the largest supplier of generic or common potions in the Realms providing potions to shops all over at barging basement prices under cutting the competition. In recent years the company has begun to develop a cult like worship of their founder Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr completely unaware that Lady T'zarah of house Vahadarr replaced him as she has a number of paid actors on retainer for public appearances. On occasion concerns that the actor looked different from Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr or from the last actor who passed themselves off as him or other oddities have been raised. These are always immediately explained away with such sound reasoning that they leave no question to the fact. Possibly he looks different because he is an Alchemist who can brew potions of Alter Self. Why wouldn't someone as fashionable as Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr also change their appearance along with their clothing? This atmosphere of certainty about who Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr is without anyone really knowing has resulted in most being completely unable to identify him if they actually met him in real life. However, only the real Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr has authentic nobility papers from Menzoberranzan and the real signet ring signifying his Lordship. Regardless of the rumors the religious devotion of the employees at Big Pharma as well as many of their customers coupled with their intimate involvement with the powers that shape the Realms and massive geographic footprint from franchised locations made Big Pharma too big to fail.
Cult of Ao, a cult led by "ministers" instead of clerics, as these cultists never received any spells from the Overgod. The cult was more philosophical than religious in nature. While the Temple to Ao is located in the city of Waterdeep the cult has diminished to less than a handful of cultists resulting in the Temple falling into disrepair before the City of Waterdeep appropriated the Temple and converted it into a residential project for the poor over 150 years ago. Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr became a cultists of Ao during the First Sundering having his faith in Savras destroyed as the continent of Maztica he was on was transported to Abeir several centuries ago. Although, he was not a particularly ardent follower of Savras only worshipping the deity of fate because his family had for several generations been attempting to learn the name of their actual deity from the planet they were taken as slaves by the Imaskari from. This eternal quest is still within his bones as Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr does not put any real faith in Ao and knows the Overgod would not answer any prayers he or anyone else could make. Instead, as it was with his ancestors who worshipped Savras, he now worships Ao with the hope of gleaning the true identity of the real deity of his heritage and maybe return to the planet of their origin.
Enemies:
Lady T'zarah of House Vahadarr, although somewhat still primally attracted to each other the love in their relationship has become completely one sided. She desires to possess and control her husband above all else. He has proven to be far to useful and valuable to give up. She will protect him from death if she is forced to but only because she wants to be the one to kill him at precisely the same moment, she herself dies. Until death do us part.
Rythel Jxdandin, is the name they are known as by the Drow who know very little else save that they are an extraplanar traveling slave trader who deals with mostly exclusive and well-off clientele. While in the presence of the Drow they take the form of a male Drow to show their humbleness as a trader of slaves. However, it is commonly assumed that they were at one time female and only became a male after transversing the Far Realms in pursuit of a collection of very unique and rare slaves. Unbeknownst to Rythel Jxdandin his true form as a Changeling is known by Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr who by happenstance learned that their slave market is a cover for their smuggling operation designed to provide a means of expedient escape for other Changelings in trouble. Although this piece of information might prove invaluable to some Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr has never revealed this secret to anyone.
Lellen of House Vahadarr, was abandoned by her father at the age of 4 only to be sold into slavery by her mother Lady T'zarah of House Vahadarr to an extraplanar traveling slave trader known as Rythel Jxdandin along with her older brother Ziron of House Vahadarr. As a lasting scar upon her she carries the weight of the remark her mother made when she sold her. She had called her a "Half-Drow" with such disdain, but her mother had always favored her over her older brother before this. Ultimately and after being sold off separating her from her brother she twisted her anger towards her father as well as her mother but mostly her father Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr. He was the reason she is merely half of a Drow. He was the reason she was an outcast. The pure-blooded races like the Drow and Humans are equally to blame in how they measure and discriminate against other "Half-Breeds" like the other Half-Elves and Half-Orcs. With this hate in her heart, she strived to learn everything she could about toxins and poisons. These were the agents that her father used to bring him to power in Menzoberranzan, and these would be the agents she would use to ascend to power herself over a nation of Half-Bloods like her.
Order of the Gauntlet, a coalition of upstanding and morally righteous knights, paladins, and clerics dedicated to destroying evil of all kinds. The Order of the Gauntlet was dragged into the life of Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr thanks to one of their High Elven Clerics named Esha who recruited the Alchemist to help him bust his father out of the Drow prison of Velkynvelve. The operation was a covert success with no one even realizing their crew was ever there. The only evidence left behind made it appear a ooze of some sort broke into the prison and ate all the prisoners. Following this feat Esha joined Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr in forming Big Pharma the largest alchemical supplier in the Realms only to then go on to find success in a second covert operation designed to protect the city of Blingdenstone from a rapidly developing threat of invasion from the Drow. Esha was the third of the original board members of Big Pharma to retire and was swiftly replaced by the Order of the Gauntlet's least intelligent and dense member who is easily persuaded and confused. While not an outright enemy of Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr some form of blame would most likely also fall upon him for pulling the Order of the Gauntlet into a scheme of the Drow if their involvement in Big Pharma was ever confirmed by the Order of the Gauntlet.
Emerald Enclave, a coven of Druids and Rangers sworn to preserve and protect the wilds of the Realms. As with the other major factions in the Realms the Emerald Enclave was approached by Big Pharma with the offer to position a member on the board of the company. The Emerald Enclave refused calling them corporate zombies and city charlatans who have no respect for the components of their craft. Their aggression was mostly verbal until after Lady T'zarah of House Vahadarr quietly assumed control of Big Pharma. Since then, there have been those in the Emerald Enclave who have filed complaints and spread rumors that the company is owned by the Drow who have a secret laboratory in Menzoberranzan where they test all manners of potions on monsters creating new unthinkable evils. Their claims that the city of Menzoberranzan is now in possession of a baby red dragon that spread fear are mostly dismissed as a raving conspiracy theory as there are also legends of this lab creating a heroic ooze disguised as a Talking Doll sent to help adventurers and all other sorts of nonsense. The Emerald Enclave seeks to bring Big Pharma and all those involved, including Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr, to justice.
Red Wizards of Thay, an evil nation of Necromancers from the east bent on world domination and the resurrection of their Lich King. Having heard of the wonders produced by the legendary Alchemist Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr they have been searching far and wide for him in order to sequester his talents for their own. By chance they have already uncovered Lady T'zarah of House Vahadarr's ruse using several different paid actors to portray her husband for his public appearances as the "Chief Executive Officer of Big Pharma" allowing her to remain anonymous to the general public when they captured and tortured one of them. Subsequent efforts to locate the Alchemist have also been foiled as they have no idea what he looks like having only various rumors to go upon within many of which his age is conflicting causing even greater confusion.
Allies:
The Harpers, is a clandestine network of spies seeking to tip the scales in favor of the innocent, the weak, and the poor within the Realms. Operating alone, relying on his wits and to create an extensive information network in the city of Menzoberranzan Lord Heydan Seegil gained an advantage over the Drow to protect the city of Blingdenstone for his Svirfneblin friend Yeesir by infiltrating the Drow nobility in a brutally efficient covert operation and then disappeared almost as suddenly as he arrived. Only a rare few Harpers themselves knew that he had escaped to his home of Maztica. Of those who were in the know of his absconder some have worked to quietly defend his name from behind the scenes counteracting the damage done to it by his wife Lady T'zarah of House Vahadarr with the hope that he will return to handle the issue only further complicating the situation.
The Lord's Alliance, is partnership of merchant cities along the Sword Coast and has a sitting member on the board of Big Pharma the largest generic alchemical supplier in the Realms due Wanda who was an associate of their esteemed council being involved with the formation of the company alongside Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr during their covert operation to prevent a Drow invasion of Blingdenstone. Wanda was the first of the original board members to be replaced by another associate from the Lord's Alliance. Although some in the Lord's Alliance are not extremely thrilled at having been connected to the Drow and their more current nefarious operations through the company others are making trusting those in the Alliance a gamble on occasion.
The Flaming Fist, is a mercenary company based in Bauldur's Gate along the Sword Coast. While Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr is intimately familiar with the Flaming Fist having been hired by them several centuries ago for Bauldurian's expedition to Maztica no one within the Flaming Fist would be aware of his long-checkered past with the company of fighters. Instead only his more recent involvement with a paladin named Tresicar helped save Blingdenstone and form the largest generic alchemical supply company in the Realms. Tresicar was the second of the original board member of big Pharma to leave and was replaced by another member of the Flaming Fist who could be easily bribed. Despite being easily open to corruption the Flaming Fist could be considered an ally to a certain point.
Zhentarim, is a network of cut throats who carved out a niche for themselves as organized criminals. One of their members a Svirfneblin named Yeesir had recieved word that his home of Blingdenstone was due to be attacked by the Drow in Menzoberranzan following saving Esha's father from the prison of Velkynvelve. More friendly with Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr than the other members the two created the company Big Pharma and swiftly surmounted the competition to become the largest alchemical supplier in the Realms. Serving as the final original board member to leave before Lord Heydan Seegil of Hour Vahadarr stepped down as Chief Executive Officer the small deep gnome was secretly responsible for the development of the addictive products produced by the company today. As a Zhentarim supplier he privately made more than enough wealth for generations until he was replaced on the board by someone Lady T'zarah of house Vahadarr had bribed resulting in her being able to manipulate the board into voting her into power as the new Chief Executive Officer of Big Pharma. Afterwards she continued to supply the Zhentarim with product but has also begun to integrate these addictive substances into regular potions getting customers hooked on the goods. Due to this the Zhentarim is in an uneasy place with the Drow as to go against them would kill a very lucrative stream of revenue yet they would ultimately prefer to be the ones in charge and so they could be persuaded to help in a pinch.
Ziron of House Vahadarr, was abandoned by his father at the age of 8 only to shortly thereafter be sold by his mother Lady T'zarah of House Vahadarr to an extraplanar traveling slaver trader known as Rythel Jxdandin along with his younger sister Lellen of House Vahadarr who was merely 4 years old at the time. Nothing is known of his whereabouts, but should he ever be discovered he would have been separated from his younger sister Lellen of House Vahadarr almost a year after being sold into slavery. Additionally, while he would be somewhat resentful towards his father, Lord Heydan Seegil of House Vahadarr, due to the mistake his father made resulting in his abandonment he would also be sympathetic due understanding the position his father was in. Finally, despite being an outcast from Drow society as a "Half-Drow" he takes after his father in his firm belief that race does not define someone as the nature of beings can be and has been changed before. Thus, despite his enslavement he strived to continue perfecting his skill at crafting curative potions with the hope of healing everyone of all alignments regardless of what they might be.
You still get free Elixer's at the end of a long rest, but you can choose which ones you want. In that moment you can choose to super-charge Elixers using Spell Slots. That way you're kinda making a called shot about what kind of day you're going to have. You could sacrifice your high level spell slots for the day to have very strong bonus-action healing elixers, or longer-lasting flight potions, but if you don't need those Elixers too bad you kinda gambled with your spell slots. https://9apps.ooo/

Eh, I mean yeah that is okay I guess. I just feel very limited by it especially since I'd rather only have potions instead of spells anyway. Plus, the Magic Plan benefit at level Six is the only level I cannot use to add a potion for my Infusions when I could really use another from Uncommon items table. It just sort of feels like the class feature you get and use but could totally replace with almost anything else and be better off and it is the class feature that makes it F tier when compared to the other Subclasses for Artificer.
EDIT: Not complete yet but here are my Magic Plans for 2024 ie 6e. The thing I like about Artificer for Alchemist is that I can just create a potion on a long rest without the need for anything else. So, when we are discussing cresting additional Healing potions... I can do ay least 1 every long rest. Instead, I'm more about converting my Spells into potions to mitigate Underdark Wild Magic or Anti-Magic effects.
[Magic Plans]
Two
- Perfume of Bewitching
- Potion of Climbing
- Potion of Comprehension
- Potion of Healing
Six
- Lantern of Revealing
Ten
- Potion of Healing (Greater)
Fourteen
- Dust of Sneezing and Choking
Eighteen
- Potion of Healing (Superior)
{EDIT OF THE EDIT: As I am sitting here eating tacos and drinking Mezcal like the iconic Maztican my character has become after living there for several centuries. (I love this character.) I just wanted to express that I think magic or the Weave sort of sucks. I would much rather have the Alchemist expand the limited types of Potions which can be made rather than cast at all. If they took away the Alchemist casting all together and gave us Potions for other spells as a indicator of an Alchemist superior skill from a normal apothecary ie tool proficiency use then I'd be happier. Like give me the ability to give another player the ability to use the Cantrip Message as an Alchemist instead of an Elixir of Healing which doesn't even benefit from the other Subclass skills which augment Healing.}
EDIT OF THE EDIT OF THE EDIT: With the UA as a guideline and after trying it out a bit I think I have my build... Background is Noble so I have Skilled for a bunch of Tools and despite Tinkerers Tools being the only tool set I can use with Crafter I took that for my racial feat as a Human so I could get the last of my tools prophecies.

***Mid-1000s DR***

One of their members a Svirfneblin
named Yeesir had recieved word that his home of Blingdenstone was due to be attacked by the Drow in Menzoberranzan following saving Esha's father from the prison of Velkynvelve.

{EDIT OF THE EDIT: As I am sitting here eating tacos and drinking Mezcal like the iconic Maztican my character has become after living there for several centuries. (I love this character.) I just wanted to express that I think magic or the Weave sort of sucks. I would much rather have the Alchemist expand the limited types of Potions which can be made rather than cast at all. If they took away the Alchemist casting all together and gave us Potions for other spells as a indicator of an Alchemist superior skill from a normal apothecary ie tool proficiency use then I'd be happier. Like give me the ability to give another player the ability to use the Cantrip Message as an Alchemist instead of an Elixir of Healing which doesn't even benefit from the other Subclass skills which augment Healing.}
