I have a multiclass half elf warlock/sorcerer that is about to get his first feat. As this is the first time I ever get a feat I would like to ask for a few advice. I picked the Xanathars guide to everything as my PHB+1 choice as I needed it for my class. Does that restrict what feats I can choose, or is that not effected by the PHB+1 rule? I would like to get my charisma up, but as I have cha score of 17 I was thinking of first taking a feat that give +1 to charisma and some other effect, and then next time when getting abillity score increase get +2 to charisma.
Does it sound like a good idea or not? Any suggestions of what +1 feat that I should pick?
Yes, even feats are restricted to PHB and XGtE. I think in that case the only feats that increase charisma are Actor and Elven Accuracy. I'd probably go with Elven Accuracy... Actor's an interesting feat and might get you out of a major problem somewhere, but Elven Accuracy will be getting used in most fights at least once. Overall, though, I think your plan is solid.
