So I have a circle of land (coast) silver dragonborn druid that is building a little enclave/permanent home upriver from the main settlement in a west march campaign. I wanted to get inspiration for structures for her to build or ways to improve her campsite as well as maybe some insight as to how long it might take her to build some of those structures. She has access to Shape Water and Mold Earth cantrips, which I got specifically thinking she would use them to build.
Here are some ideas for structures/areas of her campsite that I'm thinking of making
An underground pantry. She's up in the mountains, so it would probably stay pretty cold down there, but she could also use Shape Water or her dragon breath every morning to keep one side as a well-stocked icebox
A meditation area
A water pool for recreation, meditation, and practicing coast spells
A cooking area - she has the chef feat
somewhere to sleep - not sure if it should be enclosed so others can stay with her or if she'd sleep in the open
I'm thinking about some of these ideas for the future
Using Plant Growth to make the area very verdant and give some cover from passersby
Awakening a plant or shrub or vine to act as companionship and a rudimentary guard. They could get snippy and witty with guests (think Frank from the Harley Quinn show)
Eventually using the spell Druid Grove to beef up defenses if she starts amassing magical items or stuff that people might want to steal. If I have to cast it every day for a year to make it permanent, that's going to be a lot of mistletoe harvested under a full moon with a golden sickle. Any ideas on how to overcome that input cost?
But beyond that, I'm out of ideas for cool things for her to build. If you have any inspiration or ideas, or any input as to how long some of this stuff might take to build, I would love to hear it. She's been working on this campsite for about a month in gametime, so I'll draw up a little map of what she's got already and just add to it as I go.
Every camp/base could use a lookout tower, mostly packed dirt but with stones along the sides making steps and providing protection. Moving plants to the earthy parts of the tower and using plant growth on them could provide some camouflage. Not sure how well it would work or how it would look, but it could serve its purpose.
Creating rooms with different flora for different members of the party would be interesting, assuming you want different sleeping areas.
Creating a canopy of shrubbery and plants above the whole area could create nice shade and additional cover.
I suppose you already have a pantry, but an area for other, supplies, crates, and misc. stuff you get from the town downstream would be useful.
I don't suppose it's too much of a stretch to Mold Earth some stones into sand, and add it to your meditation area. Could make it more "coast"-y.
Well, with plant growth and such, comes herbivores. With herbivores comes predators. So have a menagerie of animals and beasts and such. Maybe some of them keep a lookout for anyone defiling the sanctity of the natural preserve created here.
birds that start caw’ing which is basically an alarm.
Think of the forest spirits and the animals and such in Princess Mononoke

Hope this helped some!
