You can summon the primal spirit bound to your soul. As an action, you can expend one use of your *Wild Shape* feature to summon your wildfire spirit, *rather than* assuming a beast form.
This, to me, reads that I have a choice to either Wild Shape to a beast of my CR level -or- summon my Wildfire Spirit. I understand that I could not do both during the same combat but my question is can I do either-or? Whadda think?
(actually, as I re read this would you be able to: with 1 action summon Wildfire then on my next turn as an action Wild shape? Ex: summon my fire monkey to appear then on my next turn wildshape to a brown bear.)
You are correct you can have your wildfire spirit and be wildshaped atthe same time.
You should also be able to some the spirit while in bear form but the rules do not specify what you actually need to do to summon it. It is possible a dm decides it involves speech or a semantic gesture that is impossible for a bear.
So Tasha’s RAW: (Summon Wildfire Spirit 2nd Lvl)
You can summon the primal spirit bound to your soul. As an action, you can expend one use of your *Wild Shape* feature to summon your wildfire spirit, *rather than* assuming a beast form.

Thank you for your thoughts
