The "rather than an action" part of the sentence could easily be interpreted that you can no longer use it as an action. If you were allowed to do either, then the sentence would be written in a permissive rather than a restrictive tone or would completely omit mentioning actions ("You gain the ability to wild shape as a bonus action." or "You gain the ability to wild shape as a bonus action in addition to the ability to use your action to wild shape.").
On the other hand, that part of the sentence could be just contrasting bonus actions with actions. If that is the case, then the combat wild shape subclass feature just adds an option (rather than replacing an option). Under this interpretation, sure you could. Mike Mearls has come down on this side.

can you still use your wild shape as a action instead of a bonus action and use your rage as a bonus action ?
