Gearing up for a big campaign. Just hit level 9. We're getting into some pretty heavy stuff. Just been awarded a massive keep for saving the city, but I'm a druid. I care not for the little things like castles. I've already got plans for developing a massive natural sanctuary inside the city walls for all manner of beasts and things.
BUT
I originally had an animal companion (a special pony companion) that was more than a stead, but an actual friend (it'd had a headband of intellect that made it super intelligent)
Anyway. I'm after suggestions for a really cool (preferably flying) companion that can follow me. Preferably something intelligent inclined for doing good.
Not likely something your DM would let you ride, but the Couatl is a flying spell casting creature that tends to be of "good" alignment. One with a less savory reputation is the Wyvern, which has a tail stinger attack. It's smarter than most beasts, but not smart enough to have a language.

What are peoples thoughts?
As far as beasts go, you might be able to get a giant owl or giant eagle. Non-beasts include hippogriff, griffon, or even pegasus.
