Hey all, playing a land wood elf druid, about to hit lvl 8 and have been thinking about what to take and would like to hear your thoughts. At lvl 4 I took +1 WIS/CON because they were both odd numbered. Stats are currently: 10 15 14 12 18 10
-Choice 1 is obviously bumping WIS to 20, for increasing spell DC, more spells, better WIS checks etc. In this case what would be best option for lvl 12?
-Choice 2 is taking resilient (con) which I am thinking that the timing is not the best since it won't increase the modifier so its essentially partly "wasted" for now.
-Choice 3 is taking war caster for the concentration bonus, plus what I think is an interesting play with thornwhip. If as an OA I could cast thornwhip (which is a melee spell attack, no disadvantage on the attack roll?) does that mean that essentially I would be able to not allow a creature to leave my vicinity since I get to pull it back close to me? Does it effectively reduce their movespeed by 10ft?
Given your stats, I'd go with warcaster. It will help with concentration as well as having other benefits.
To answer your question about thorn whip, it will not reduce the creature's speed. Opportunity attacks occur before they move, so unless you are using a reach weapon, they will already be within 5 feet of you when they trigger the AoO.
At 4 I'd have taken dex/wis, then considered resilient: con at 8, giving you no more odd stats. Having an odd con is fine as long if you're thinking of taking resilient later on. Having an even con when you take that feat, as you said, makes the stat bump less useful.
Warcaster is always a good choice, but I wouldn't necessarily choose it for AoOs, i'd choose it mainly for its other major benefit: the boost to concentration. The druid spell list is so concentration heavy that I'd take a boost to keeping concentration above almost anything else. At low levels, I'd say that warcaster provides more benefit.

Any other ideas? Thanks!
